"The best gift I received as a child was my Discman." Nycole Kave
Super Artist NYCOLE KAVE was born in the Bronx but was raised in a diverse community in Long Island where she found her musical calling at the tender age of 5. She is among the new breed of artist that does it all, does it all well, and does all it for themselves… Super Artist! Nycole writes her own songs, and demands to be involved with the production and choreography to her sound. Even as a kid she always wanted to take charge of everything, the talent shows, the fashion shows, plays, etc. She wanted to be first to walk the runway, she wanted the lead in every play and musical, and worked hard to win first place in every competition. In elementary school NYCOLE started a singing group with her neighbor and together they composed and wrote a new school song. The principle and staff were so impressed that they decided to use the song for major assemblies and the graduation. That was her first song writing experience and the Super Artist was born.
NYCOLE was raised in a single parent home by a dad who suffered from depression and there wasn't enough money for singing or dance lessons. So as a teen the only musical education NYCOLE received was from studying artists on the Internet and the CD's she requested as Christmas presents. She spent endless nights hiding under her covers listening to her Discman. "I would close my eyes and envision choreography and performing every song on stage as if it were mine. I didn't understand my gifts then but I did realize it was a rare talent to see music and movement, just like it is to paint a masterpiece."
NYCOLE continues…
"Though I was in All County Chorus at the age of 9 and studied violin for six years during that time, my professional career really got started at age 13. At age 13, I lied about my age to complete an online application for an MTV dance show and was selected to come on Direct Effect and dance for their live dance show. I had never freestyle danced for anything up until the first time I walked into MTV and when the cameras rolled I moved like the professional dancers around me. On one episode I met a group of dancers who go by the name Amount Boyz (Madonna, Jay-Z, Missy, Keyshia Cole) and made my first industry connection. I began studying them and introducing myself to the world of professional dance in NYC. They were signed to the top dance agency at the time Bloc NY and after a few more connects and shows at MTV I got the guts to go in for an audition and nailed it. No formal background and little dance experience I was now signed with the top dance agency and ready to work."
Prior to establishing herself as a professional dancer in NYC performing with various artists, tours, videos and dance companies, NYCOLE worked at Haagen Daz to pay for vocal lessons from the famed Craig Derry. On the path to pursue her dreams Nycole worked with a slew of producers and managers who all tried to change her personal style and sound. It wasn't until she met her now manager Mike Warner and came to him with a great idea to remake Eddie Murphey's "Party All the Time," that someone woke up and saw her vision.
"NYCOLE was one of the most decisive artist I had ever met, she was sure of who she was and who she wanted to be and nothing was going to stop her from reaching her goals. I love that confidence and heart in and artist," says Mike. "She's artistically innovative in so many ways and I see the potential in her to be the biggest pop star to hit the industry since Madonna."
"With my new single, Mack Girl, I'm ready to take the stage and put my stamp on the music world. I chose Pop music because it's so universal and diverse and that's where I feel most comfortable. I hate being labeled or put into a box so with every song I can just reinvent myself and feel free. My goal as an artist is to create for a better understanding of the crazy things that go through my mind and use the end product to inspire and reach out to anyone in search of happiness, truth, respect, and a sense of self. I want everyone to know that nothing is impossible and if you were born with a talent USE IT! That's what I plan on doing from this day forward and the rest of the days of my life, exclaims NYCOLE KAVE!"
