About Me
Note: I'm NOT a certified CACC coach. I'm a long time grappler,(11 years Judo; some BJJ, who always favored no-gi/freestyle training), and wants to transition to the mentality, and tactics of Catch Wrestling.
I'm simply trying to generate interest in the area. This page is for people interested in Catch-As-Catch-Can Wrestling; to discuss, and hopefully meet & train, in the New Orleans area.CACC is NO-GI, total-body submission wrestling, which originated in Lancanshire, England. The most famous school was the Snake Pit, in Wigan.
It is comprised of toe holds, knee-bars, neck/face cranks, hip throws, shoulder locks, takedowns, sweeps, chokes, pins, rides, etc. Think Freestlye/Greco-Roman Wrestling, with submission holds.
Being passive from your back(guard) is deemed less-desireable. Active/attacking guard work, is acceptable. Attaining a top position for control and/or submission, is the most desireable. If you would like more info on Catch Wrestling, check out ScientificWrestling.com. Jake Shannon,(SW.com) is doing an awesome job at promoting Catch Wrestling. For training opportunities in other parts of the country/world, check out CatchWrestling.netIf you need proof that it's legitimate in todays grappling/MMA world, Frank & Ken Shamrock, Josh Barnett, and Kazushi Sakuraba's, submission wrestling skills are based primarily, in Catch Wrestling; through legends of the sport such as the late Karl Gotch, Billy Robinson, and Yoshiaki Fujiwara. As far as training in person with us, we'd prefer you to have 1-2 years of wrestling experience; Freestyle, Folkstyle, Greco-Roman, BJJ, Judo, or Sambo.
Thanks for visiting!Update: Lately, I've been getting a lot of requests from people who are into fake wrestling(ie, WWE). I have NO interest whatsoever, in fake wrestling, and I don't want that stigma associated with my site. I realize CACC has a long history in that arena, but I'm only interested in real submission wrestling. So, I will not accept friend requests, from profiles that are Pro-Wrestling oriented.
