Shitpump

Biography:

„Hy! My name is Kizso (Zsolt Kis). I’m the singer of Shitpump. I’ll tell you the story of the band. Firstly I didn’t know anything about the ’Hungarian punk movement’ although I had a band: D. I. Y. (Do It Yourself) which was nearly on the top of its carrier. Later there weren’t any concerts with D. I. Y. and the members were alwasy changing. I felt I want a new, a better band. Later my friend Öcsi (György Gaál) and his brother Zoli were who called me to make a new band. Some rock n’ roll or something else. I told them it was O.K. just find some musicians and I’d sing. This was the situation for nearly a year. Then Öcsi said that we had musicians but the guitarist abdicated the first probation so we didn’t do anything again. After these problems a miracle happened! The phone rang! An old friend of mine called me who was a guitartist of course. So the band was ready with Mikee (Miklós Horváth). We play the mixture of hardcore and British punk music (like Exploited, G.B.H., Discharge, etc.) At the first probation was clear that the drummer (sorry but I don’t remember his name so later: Drummer) couldn’t drum. We knew that is was a big problem but Drummer said that he couldn’t hit faster but he could drum. It was really funny. :) My colleague Sanyi (Sándor Koller) became our new drummer. The most bizarre was that I didn’t know Sanyi before. An other colleague told me about him and this idea. We started with this group. The first song was: ’Sarló és Kalapács’ (Hammer and Sickle). We had our first song but we didn’t have name. In the pub after some pints of beer I told the others the name: Shitpump. (I saw this graffity on the street.) And after nobody said anything better the band name became Shitpump. By March in 2002 we had 8 own songs. Later concerts started. Newer and newer clubs and places: Freeport, Woodoo, etc. We went weekly or once in a fortnight to make concerts. We gained a lots of fun but we also got critics. It was a really hard time. All in all, in 2003 we made the first demo: Anarchive. (Unfortunately, it has a very bad quality.) Among the unbelievably lot concerts, which were somethimes bloody, dirty and sometimes we were so illuminated, we had some nice remembrance. For example when the band entered for a talent scout competition: Sztár gyár (Star factory). The jury wasn’t very happy about our music but we fought up to the semifinal. Even so we didn’t get album contract. Instead of these we could make concerts before Junkies and Zorall in Százhalombatta. (Later the Star factory was on TV, too.) Instead of the lot concerts and the talent scout Shitpump had time to make new songs. So we made the second demo: Új Harc! – New Fight! In 2004 we had concerts after concerts. Than in 2005 we must have a rest because of Sanyi’s withdrawal. At the end of the year, in October a younger boy appeared. He was Maxi (Tamás Juhász). After some months the band could start the work again. In 2006 we played before the Prosectura punk band and we also were in a charity concert. In 2007 another demo was born: Pump n’ Roll. At the end of 2007 Maxi fed up with Shitpump and Shitpump fed up with Maxi, too. We had a new drummer: Eddie (Ákos Szabolcs) in the end of 2007. Everything seemed O.K. when Eddie suddenly announced his going away because privacy problems. This problem was solved by Gergő Balogh (Dzsí), who was the drummer of Végítélet. Gergő came, drummed and won. But after a few months he wasn’t able to play at concerts. The drummers were changing (we nearly get the ’themostdrummerusedintheshortesttime’ title in the Book of Guiness Records) and the concerts finished. Shitpump slowly gave up. Öcsi and Mikee went away and I stayed alone…nearly…Adam Csalló the guitarist of Végítélet asked me to make the new Shitpump. By December in 2008 we found new people and the Shitpump was reborn. This Shitpump is a bit younger, more ambitious, and we are hungry for changing the world. We have a lot of energy and we started to collect the concert dates. On Myspace you can download our music because we aren’t able to find a publisher who is willing to publish our music…and on the other hand…Just do it yourself!!! Now hopefully Shitpump really can go on that way we imagine (also in music) and not that which was made by circumstances."
