ERNST STRÖER, born 1963 in Munich, Germany, lives and works as musician, arranger, composer, producer and author in Wessling, close to Munich. Growing up in a family of music lovers, he starts to play drums on table tennis rackets at the age of 12 - to the music of Weather Report, Miles Davis and Herbie Hanckock. By the time, he creates a special hand-drum-set because he doesnt like to sit down while playing.
Since 1978, he releases music together with his brother Hans Peter Ströer. 1981-1985 he is a member of the MILD MANIAC ORCHESTRA, the group of the german jazz guitarplayer Volker Kriegel. Since then, Ernst is working as studio musician, playing on albums of Andreas Vollenweider, Peter Kruder, Cusco, Harald Haerter, Pippo Pollina, Rosanna & Zelia and many others.
1982, Ströer Bros. establish the Hans Peter and Ernst Ströer Musikverlag and the label „Ilusion“, where they release soundtracks - like „Die Manns“, the Original Soundtrack by Hans Peter Ströer for Heinrich Breloers feature film about Thomas Mann and his family.
During the 80s, Ströer Bros. become a successful team, producing 12 Albums with the legendary german singer UDO LINDENBERG, some of them together with the german director and producer Horst Königstein, who worked with Peter Gabriel on his german albums. Their works with Udo feature several orchestral recordings as well as special versions of songs by Friedrich Hollaender, Theo Mackeben and others.
1987, Ströer Bros. release their album „NOMADEN“ - a thrilling trip around the world, featuring the New Yorker dancer and poet Howard Fine, who acts as a storyteller. German critics see the album as one of the best releases of the year and the German Cultural Institute sends the band to South-East-Asia, where they tour Singapore, Bangkok, Manila, Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung and Kuala Lumpur.
1988, Ströer Bros. work on the conception and musical direction of Germanys Official Cultural Program for the Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea: the German Kunst Disco. They sign 136 young musicians and DJ WESTBAM, who runs the place only with music especially produced for the event.
Since 1988, Ernst writes music for films, such as the american series „Berlin Break“ (Universal), written by Reuben Leder and produced by Wolfgang Petersen, for theatre plays as well as for radioplays.
Together with Klaus Doldingers legendary Band „PASSPORT“, that he joins 1989, he plays several hundred concerts, touring Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Southafrica, Marokko and Brazil. Up to now, he played on 11 Passport albums.
1994 to 1998, Ernst takes lessons in composing from the german composer H.C. Mylla.
2005, Ströer Bros. start to work on the relaunch of their album „NOMADEN“. Stroerbrosmedia becomes the new platform for all projects that are released through their own label Ilusion Records.
2006, Ströer Bros. start to work on a book about listening to music entitled „Das MusikHörBuch Vom passiven zum aktiven Musikgenuß“. It will be published by SCHOTT MUSIC, Mainz, in March 2008.
2007, Ernst becomes founding member of "CHRISTAN PROMMERS DRUMLESSON", a stunning band featuring Christian Prommer, Roberto di Gioia, Dieter Ilg, and Wolfgang Haffner. They tour Japan and play concerts in London, Berlin, Hamburg, Thessaloniki and Amsterdam. Their album "DRUMLESSON VOL. 1" is released in Japan and Germany by SONAR KOLLEKTIV in January 2008.
On his way through the jungle of life, Ernst Ströer got several Golden Records and several Prices of German Music Critics.
