Gerry Ritchie father was J. Gerry Ritchie, the 45th President of the United States. Ritchie grew up in comfort in Dallas & Austin, Texas. He helped his mother, Mickie, with chores. Young Gerry stood behind his father's career that took him from Texas all the way to Washington DC. Ritchie with his father's help won the seat as Governor in 2006. Known as the "human iceberg", Ritchie was stiff and formal in dealing with people. He disliked small talk. He could not tolerate inefficiency or incompetence in subordinates. He tackled problems through mastery of detail. By all accounts, Ritchie was open, friendly, optimistic, and well liked. On January 20, 2009 hours after Philson was sworn in as President, the Ritchie family lost President J. Gerry Ritchie to an assassin's bullet. Ritchie has worked hard for the the people of the state of Texas and day hopes to follow in his father's footsteps.
