Abraham the Poor

About Me

abraham the poor is josh gaines, a singer/songwriter from Albuquerque NM. In December 2007, he began a solo acoustic project and started writing and recording the material that would eventually make up "the pumpkin patch cabin ep," his first release. at the outset of the project, he wanted the music to be associated with something other than his own name, feeling that there is more reverence and grandeur in a title, and being inspired by the life of the original saint abraham the poor, he felt it was an appropriate choice. in writing, josh hopes that his lyrics convey a consistent message, character, and honesty that is relatable to all types of people, and that it inspires those people to pursue with fervor their own art and talents in a celebration of individual gifts. josh gladly acknowledges that any talent or ability in music is given to him undeservingly by the lord christ, and he desires to honor god with that gift. that being said, is he a 'christian band?' or is his music 'for christians' specifically? respectfully, heck no. thanks for listening.
