Murnie

About Me

Murnie is a Glasgow/Lanarkshire-based power trio with a love of strong melodies and idiosyncratic lyrics played loud, and with influences as varied as seventies singer-songwriters and classic metal this is hardy surprising. Their unusual piano/drums/guitar-or-bass line-up might appear lacking, but thoughtful arrangements, harmony vocals and sheer enthusiasm result in a big sound from a wee band. Murniesongs take a wry, sideways look at life, asking such questions as: “Do people have sexual fantasies about the Muppets?”, “Are the subjects of the Green Lady paintings really human?” and “What would it be like to be a milkman in that seventies TV world populated by glamorous, dangerous housewives?” Murnie released an EP, “Written On The Kitten”, in 2005 and two tracks from the EP are now available to download here; Leather Muppet & The Saddist. Murnie have also contributed a track (The Short Wave) to The Littlest Album 3, released April 2007. A preview of The Short Wave is available on the player. Murnie are currently working on their first album.
