Influences: Tim Hahn, twice over winner of the prestigious ‘Echo’ music award and Grammy nominated drummer, was born on December 2nd 1971 in Cottbus, Germany. He received his first drum lesson at the age of nine at the Academy of Music in Cottbus. There he was admitted to the Programme for Gifted Children and at the age of just 16 began studying drumming at the Carl Maria von Weber School of Music in Dresden. A year-long study period at the Academy of Music in Rotterdam followed this in 1994.Alongside his love of jazz music, Tim Hahn always wanted to explore both his own boundaries and the diversity of his instrument, and at the age of 19 while still studying, formed the successful rock band MerQury with which he began his professional career. In addition to this, he also completed numerous international master classes, numbering, among others, are those from the “Drummers Collective” in New York and the “Musician’s Institute” in Los Angeles. Tim Hahn is also a founding member of the European Jazz Collective. Due to his musical diversity he is a much requested live and studio drummer.Tim Hahn has been an active member of the Klazz Brothers since the year 2000.The KLAZZ BROTHERS first got to know the prominent percussionists Alexis Estevez and Elio Rodriguez Luis at a concert in Havana. At the time the two were members of the ‘Ensemble Habanna’, Cuba’s best Latin jazz group. During a session together, all five musicians found a seemingly intuitive common ‘musical language’ and thus emerged a new sound: a unique combination of traditional European classical music with elements of swing and Latin Jazz fused with the infinite diversity of Cuban rhythm. The group were awarded two ‘Echoes’ and a Grammy for their singular fusion of musical genres.In 2003 the “KLAZZ BROTHERS & CUBA PERCUSSION” released their debut album Classic meets Cuba. The album found its way to Hollywood and can be heard in blockbusters such as "Collateral" with Tom Cruise and "Hitch" with Will Smith. One year later the album Jazz meets Cuba was released and has since been awarded multiple jazz awards. The most successful album so far Symphonic Salsa was co-produced with the Bavarian Radio Orchestra, after which Mozart meets Cuba was produced in 2005 and most recently in 2006, a live recorded double CD and in 2007 their newest work Opera meets Cuba, was released.
