About Me

Representation of original music from Sudan, land streaming blue and white nile. Before Naming Bilad Al Sudan so, there was glorious ancient Kush kingdom, area including upper Egypt and whole Sudan.Location: North eastern Africa, the continent's largest nation in area. Language spoken, African influxed Arabic. Some natives speak Nubian and Nilotic dialects.History recognizes Al Mahdiya bravery; fighting and the restless resistance to British colonists.

Music is divided into 3 categories: Old (jukebox), classic music reflected in diverse styles; distinctive with Oud (guitar) instrument. Modern, groovey music, more likely classified as pop. Madeh, Suffi spiritual music, depends majorly on use of drumbeats.

Ululation is a unique vocal/ musical sound women make, similar to many middle eastern.. bedouin women who make these sounds in graduations/ weddings/ job promotions.. another way of expressing happiness and gratitude.

A vital traditional value in every Sudanese home is, "al jawd belmawjood" translates to pampering guests with what is available. However, nowadays guests receive utmost levels of welcoming. The communities get as close as families, you would know every person who lives along nearly a distance of 10 blocks away or farther.

Please utilize this page to take a broaden prespective towards Sudan. Media is launching much propagandas, national geographic image of Africa, jungle-ish place where uncivilized people wander around undressed! Cameras directed to only under-developed areas of the nation.

Hence, twisteds story about Darfur conflict: there is no distinction b/w Arabs and Africans and most definately not an ethnic problem. Facts prove problem to be an evolving one, nomadic people versus farmers. Government works on tackling the trouble. As far as assistance, Sudani people are the first out there to help eachother, musical groups raising funds to help Darfur long before MYSPACE ROCK FOR DARFUR launched its program, which has gotten more publicity, but there is no mention in broadcast about local attributes in western media.
