About the music:In Italy, the older, traditional Folk songs, filastrocche (nursery rhymes), tongue-twisters, lullabys and ballads are endangered species; many of them are not in "official" Italian, but in one of the regional dialects. These dialects, mainly used at home and in rural communities, have been handed down orally. The songs exist in more or less similar versions in different dialects (and some in other European languages). Symbolically they reflect, rites, the moon, the tarot, magic, the labyrinth, the spirit of corn. The cycle of life: birth, marriage and death - and of the year: seasons, harvest, Lent, Carnival, etc. Collettivo Mazzulata invites everybody to rediscover this precious heritage.
About the project
Collettivo Mazzulata uplift their audiences with an amazing, eenergetic, pleasing and hugely entertaining combination of ancient and modern styles. Melding New Orleans with Sicilian traditional music and mixing ancient "canti delle mondine" (rural harvest songs) with Hip Hop. Or fusing poets with Jimi Hendrix, and right after that, Italian nursery rhymes and lullaby's meet Ragamuffin. Embracing magical ballads, giving them a fresh new voice and a revealing new destination. These contemporary troubadours deliver Ratafolk, a blend appreciated by music lovers prepared to stretch themselves to a widely varied and joyful musical celebration. CM feels inspired to keep tradition from a silent fade away, it's their commitment and their challenge!
