About Me

RIP Eric Laufer
On Thursday Sept 4, 2008, Boxcar Serenade bassist Eric Laufer was killed in a motorcycle accident, on his way home from a gig in San Antonio. Eric was a truly amazing musician, an incredibly gifted songwriter, and also my best friend. He will be missed.
What is Boxcar Serenade?
Boxcar Serenade is a cold woman on a hot summer day.
Boxcar Serenade is the dirty old bum on the corner of Commonwealth and Brighton who sings with a voice like Sam Cooke.
Boxcar Serenade is spending your last twenty dollars on beer instead of on rent.
Boxcar Serenade is a looooong subway ride.
"Boxcar Serenade offer a glimpse of what Tom Waits in 1950s Paris, competing with Django Reinhardt for the supper club crowd would have sounded like." - Dante, austin.com
Singer/guitarist Dave Paul has long been a sideman in the Austin and New England roots/rockabilly scenes. Now he is stepping into the forefront with his new project, Boxcar Serenade.

With lyrics inspired by singer-storytellers such as Tom Waits, and Bob Dylan, and music descended from the great blues and jazz artists of old (with a modern twist!), Boxcar Serenade delivers a unique sound to the Austin, TX music landscape.
See Boxcar Serenade live at a club/bar/restaurant/coffehouse near you!
