Earl Grey & the Tea Ladies

About Me

Featuring their quirky re-imaginings of the music of Wagner, Satie & Bizet, as well as film & tv themes & songs by Tom Waits, Roy Orbison & Gloria Gaynor, Earl Grey & the Tea Ladies' gigs are unique events which combine elements of performance art and slapstick comedy with moments of genuine musical beauty & virtuosity. They're probably also the only trumpet, trombone, cello and accordion quartet you'll see this century.

Earl Grey & the Tea Ladies were formed in 1873 after a particularly lavish dinner party at Baron Rothschild's in Belgrave Square descended into chaos when the then Earl insisted upon performing an impromptu rendition of Mussorgsky's Cavatina on the tenor trombone, & was joined by Flora St T'Yoube on the trumpet, Marjorie Mornington on the violoncello & Vanessa Benson on the accordion. Their peformance became the talk of Victorian London & the Queen herself insisted upon a private audience. Since then the legend has grown...
Earl Grey & the Tea Ladies are now available for hire and are a must to play at all fashionable dinner parties, weddings, barmitzvahs & bashment breakcore mashup nights. Very reasonable rates due to straitened circumstances. Book us now as the Earl is having trouble keeping up the mortgage repayments on his castle.
