Slackjaw Jezebel Music

About Me

Slackjaw Jezebel is armed with the songwriting team up of Steven Canvas (Vocals), Matt B (Lead Guitar), Joshua Higgins (Drums/Percussion) and Nick "sticky fingers" Schaat (Bass). Slackjaw Jezebel's anticipated first full length release:

IS COMING SOON WE PROMISE!

To create the music SJ is working with renowned producers Robert Eibach and David Longoria through the Alchemy Labs Incubator Project and is being recorded at Del Oro Music Studios. Working hard to get the release out sometime this year while performing in select venues in Southern California. Slackjaw Jezebel combines expert musicianship, anathematic lyrics, great harmonies, gut wrenching guitar work and soulful vocals to create what listeners describe as exceptionally fun modern rock music. Look for them in your local music paper or check back here for show dates!

Lil bit of history.
Slackjaw Jezebel got its start when Steven Canvas's old Steel City friends agreed to help him start a project with his music. Then Originally designed to have two lead singers. The result was their EP/demo, MotherMcCreesPuppetShow ( download ). Produced by John (original drummer) and Steven and released in early 2005, it got great reviews. Designed to reflect where the band started from in case it ever got anywhere thus the combined names for the EP title. Steven's initial recipe of a band full of songwriters gave way to the desire to follow their own projects which left Steven to mind the musical sails without a crew. For nearly a year SJ went through some changes and it even appeared that this ship was sinking until he partnered up and created SJM LLC with Matt B and Joshua Higgins. Now, with Steven's knack for writing catchy lyrics and melodies along with Matt and Josh's expert musicianship they have set a new course for the Slackjaw Jezebel on these musical seas. You can also find Nick Schaat on the bass. He's one of LA's Premier Bass Players. A powerful team of personality and musicianship should be enough for you to keep an eye out for Slackjaw Jezebel it's a band to definitely go see live, but if its not.. THE FEEL GOOD INTROSPECTIVE ALTERNATIVE ROCK MUSIC IS PERFORMED BY A BAND OF SEASONED PROS AND PUT ON A GREAT SHOW. THAT SHOULD SPARK YOUR INTEREST SO... GO SEE SLACKJAW JEZEBEL

Below is a montage of photos from past SJ events from 2005 to 2007.

Slackjaw Jezebel has had a lot of help over last 2 years, friends, family, business sponsors, fashion models, and even academic programs like the Marinello School of Beauty. Of course the list goes on and on. If you would like to support the band somehow please let us know by emailing us here. As for everyone that has gotten us a step further in some small way including former musicians of this Slackjaw Jezebel, your blessings and support have endured as the long awaited concept album I conceived so many years ago has almost come to fruition. (albeit a lot of changes have been made) to all that I have mentioned and haven't mentioned thank you. Below are some of my favorite moments ~peace Steven Canvas 3/4/08... Sounds Like:

Slackjaw Jezebel performs unique Modern Pop Alternative and Brooding Blues Rock. All listeners describe SJ as exceptionally raw and fun to listen to. Since the songs we play are so diverse and noticeably unique that it is hard to describe our 'only' sound other than our own. We have heard that one song sounds like Tool and another sounds like John Mayer and another sounds like REM the list goes on and on.

So who do you think we sound like now?

Do we sound like someone you enjoy? Let us know by sending us a comment!!! We would love to know what you think?

These pics were added in Jun 08. and have been fun too make while we are board in the studio. More to come!!
