About Me
Well, where to begin...I was born into a very musical family and encouraged to play almost from birth. Having traversed the musical spectrum playing anything from jazz and funk to rock and hardcore metal, I've come to realize I simply love to play regardless of the setting or style of music. The recordings in my player are a small sample of my recent work as a drummer. Included in my player are songs from my current group, The Holland Account (www.myspace.com/thaowns or they're in my top friends), which include "Never Satisfied," "Requiem," "And He Came," and Trust" as well as sessions with I-Exist including: "Element" and "Through Memory," and sessions with Cody McCarver and Danny Shirley of Confederate Railroad, and Riggin Reins including: "What a Way to Go" (song originally written by Ray Kennedy; I co-arranged this new version with John Souki) and "Rent, Groceries, and Gasoline"--I sang backing vocals on both country tracks. Also included in my player is less recent work as a lead guitarist/lead singer/songwriter, including "Write No More".
Throughout my career thus far, I've been fortunate to have done extensive session/studio work for studios including: Palace of Sorrow, Delta 9, Burining Bridge, BSU, UWM, Static Shack, The Pop Machine, and LWW Studios. I've recorded with stars like Danny Shirley of Confederate Railroad and Cody McCarver. In addition to my work as a session musician, I've given extensive live performances at venues/festivals like: The Note (Chicago), Hard Rock Cafe (Chicago), The Vogue (Indianapolis), The Emerson Theater (Indianapolis), The Crump Theater (Columbus, IN), The Triangle (Greenville, OH), Harpos (Detriot), The Patio/Spin (Indianapolis), South by Southwest (Austin), Summerfest (Milwaukee), Summerfest (Fort Wayne), Harpos (Detroit), The Electric Cowboy (Fort Smith, AK), The Neon Armadillo (Fort Wayne--Shows with Chuck Wicks, Rascal Flatts, Kelly Pickler, and Taylor Swift), 8 Seconds Saloon (Indianapolis--Show with Confederate Railroad), and MECA (Chicago).
Along with a formal education/training in music theory, composition, and performance, I am endorsed by Shine Custom Drums and Percussion (Cali), Drumstar Wear, Xtreme Drummer Wear, Roaring Lion Energy Drink, and the Kelly SHU. I have won several songwriting competitions including the Shirley Martin Songwriting Competition, and have written and recorded two tracks voted no. 1 on sonicbids.com (Save Yourself and Everything I Despise). As a multi-instrumentalist, I am very proficient on: drums/aux percussion, piano, guitar, horn, trumpet, tuba, valve trombone, flute, sax, harp, and voice--I'm partial to the drum set then to any of the above. As an artist, I prefer: Shine Custom Drums, Zildjian and Paiste Cymbals, Axis/Pearl/DW Hardware, Aquarian heads, and Vic Firth drum sticks.
Please feel free to contact me for session/studio or fill-in/touring work. Much love to all of you and yours and don't forget to live life and ROCK!
