Theatre of Places involves creative and expressive work in non-conventional uses of places. Any space gives different opportunities to express the individual’s creative capability to explore and express the creative and athletic potential of the person.Through the “Theatre of Places” Gli Argonauti make use of the physical or symbolic characteristics of a place as a source of creative inspiration for an artistic project.The artistic result is part of that place, that context, and is not exportable nor reproducible in another space. This gives a value to that environment , which becomes “theatre”, that is, not merely “scenario”.The workshop “Gli Argonauti” , directed by Alessandro Mezzetti, began thanks to the initiative of students and graduates of the University Institute of motor Sciences (IUSM) of Rome, and developed its activity of expressive and creative research in the sphere of motor activity.The sporting experience of the members of the group emerges in the choreography, the fluidity of the movements, finely harmonized to music, and the team cooperation that permeate every creation of the group.Our work parallels the new tendencies arising from the individual needs to express him or herself in a personal way, and represents a new approach to sport, in which communication is more valuable than competition, and the pleasure obtained from movement is more important than the search for performance.“ In each of us, there is the seed of a great expressive potential; the search to develop this ability can only be illuminated by the humble awareness of one’s own real value….” GliArgonauti -www.teatrodeiluoghi.it- ..
