Fricassée Cajun Band

About Me

Live at the Liberty Theater performing the Midland Two-Step
Fricassée Cajun Band plays a traditional and fun mix of Cajun music.
Fricassée was formed on September 7th of 2007. The members all met while participating in Cajun Jam Session in Lafayette, La. As they sat in on the jam sessions they became closer friends and enjoyed playing together. After little discussion, they decided to form a Cajun Band
Kirk Dugas has been playing rhythm guitar for over 30 years. Kirk's family is from Lake Arthur, Louisiana and he was raised in Jennings, Louisiana. He moved to Lafayette, Louisiana in 1979 and has been there ever since. He has played with The Dugas Brothers and the Back Door Band for over ten years and also currently plays with Melange Cajun band. Kirk has also had the honor and pleasure of performing with the "Cajun Queen" Sheryl Cormier a few times at the Liberty Theater in Eunice, LA. He also sits in with other Cajun artist for gigs around Acadiana.
Austin Monceaux has been playing the Cajun Accordion for about 5 years. He is a 16 year old that is self taught on the accordion. Austin is a native of Crowley, LA. where he attends Midland High School. Austin is one to watch as an upcoming Cajun accordionist. Austin plays a unique style of accordion that have anyone mesmerized. Austin sits in with quiet a few Cajun bands around the Acadiana area.
Henry Hample has been playing the fiddle for over 30 years. He recently moved to Arnauldville, Louisiana from New York City, where he played with many Cajun bands including the Bosco Stompers, the Back Porch Rockers, the Doc Marshalls, and Jesse Lege and Friends. He currently teaches fiddle, piano, and other instruments.
Billy Hammond has been beating on the drums for as long as he can remember. He is a native of Jennings, LA and now resides in Lake Charles, LA. He has had the pleasure and experience to travel the US and Canada with a honored Drum Corp. His love and want for the Cajun music and heritage is second to none. Billy also plays the banjo and guitar as well. He has ordered an accordion from Marc Savoy and plans on learning to play.
Lisa Trahan has been playing the bass guitar for many years. She currently plays bass with the Magnolia Sisters and for other bands. Lisa's style of bass is very traditional of Cajun music. She comes from a family of Cajun musicians.
On any given Wednesday night you can find them all jamming at the Blue Moon Saloon or on Saturday afternoons at Vermilionville, sitting in on the Cajun jam sessions.
