Perseverance was forged in July of 2007. Each member has been in bands of the past. Carlos has been in bands in LA. Jeff, Ray and Brad had been in various bands here in Portland. For Brad it had been quite some time. He played from 1988-1991 with a very good friend of his David Graham in SARINACE. Carlos moved to Portland from LA. and was introduced to me from a friend. We got to talking about music when he told me he was a singer and would be interested in working on a project. I told him that I just so happened to be looking to put a band together. This is where the band began. Carlos was exactly what I was looking for. Not long after, I was up at EASTSIDE MUSIC getting some new guitar strings. A guy named Jeff was helping me and we got to talking about metal and our favorite bands. It turned out that we liked a lot of the same music. The cool thing was that he was into a lot of the modern stuff, while I was into some of the modern and a lot of the old school metal. He told me that he knew of a drummer that could keep up and put a name and number on a card. I asked who it was and he smiled and said "that's me." I said ok lets jam. A few days of trying to get together and it finally happened. He was perfect for what i was looking for. At times i felt as though I was playing with my old drummer Dave ,From back in the day. I was worried about finding the perfect drummer, but he found me. Carlos and i looked at each other and said FUCK! We just locked in perfect. Not too long after, Brad got in touch with his old neighbor, Rai, who would become the bass player in Perseverance. After several months and playing a few key local shows, however, he and the band parted ways due to differences in interests. The band had begun to take off and this put a damper on everything. Playing without a bass was impossible for what the band was trying to achieve. What was worse is that the band had already collectively decided to begin recording a demo, putting Perseverance in an even more precarious spot... The search for a bassist began and the band decided that I (Brad) would record the bass tracks if new player wasn't found by that time. Things were seeming pretty grim until the drummer Jeff ran into an old buddy of his, Eric, at a bar in Gresham. After a couple drinks, Eric brought up the idea that a co-worker of his played the bass and was interested in playing in a band. Jeff told him to have the guy shoot us a message on myspace and we'd see about setting up a rehearsal. About the same time he contacted the band, Eric told Jeff that this guy was really digging the music on our page. This dude, from Camas, was Chad and said that he also had a buddy, Nick, who was interested in playing leads. To Jeff, Carlos and I it sounded like a perfect deal seeing that we had all discussed eventually bringing a second guitar player in to the band as well. Not knowing what to expect, the guys were invited over to the jam space for a rehearsal....needless to say, these guys were both such kickass musicians that we hired them on the spot. Not only were they kickass musicians, but just really cool dudes, which was part of the requirement. Now PERSEVERANCE is ready to bring you some unrelenting, blistering metal except FAR heavier than before. They say that when a window shuts a door opens somewhere else and that's exactly what happened. DO IT FOR THE METAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brad
