About Me
Lunara began as a trio band between Vocalist/guitarist Nicolas Morales, Bassist Matt Lopez, and Drummer Henry Largo. During the early years, the three
explored the musical bounds of grundge, punk and metal
while experimenting with jazz, jungle and other styles of music.
In the summer of 2003, they created their first pivotal song "Nine Lives",
Which was heavily adored by all of their friends as well as fans.
With every song they created thereafter, they began to shape a sound that was starting to take a life of it’s own. And one year later,
the 7 song EP, which they titled "Vacancy Inn" was released.
This self-produced, self-pressed, completely DIY album was their first official release
capturing a more soft and psychadelic side of the band.
After the release, the band decided it was time to push the bar and
acquired a second guitarist, Ricky Vella. However, due to some difficulties,
the relation did not work out and the three, once again, continued writing as a trio.
By 2005, LUNARA’s music took a much focused and mysterious turn. They released "chandelirium", which excited current fans and intrigued new listeners.
In 2006, they recorded another ep called "A Life on Film"
Although it was a 4 track disc, what they forged was soul-shaking and much
darker yet retaining eerie yet powerful energy.
They’ve also got a hell of a live show to boot.
the energy they radiate on stage enchants even the most boredom stricken showgoers.Their live performances and cd’s have received many a great praise by a diverse group of nation wide touring acts, most of them not even in the same genre as Lunara! (Portugal. The Man, The Stiletto Formal, Foxy Shazam, The Myriad, Between The Trees,
Landmines, baby!-rip-, The Vettes, OK Stranger, and others) What makes their show energy so
captivating and addictive is that it’s neither brutal, nor chill, nor depressing,
but all it’s own.
"I wouldn’t change a thing about you guys, you are right where you need to be!" -The Myriad
Since their summer tour in 2007, they recently decided once again to work with additional members.
Keyboardist Lauren Jernigan and John Maxwell(no longer, but is still on good terms). Thinking that the outcome could’nt
be any more amazing, the group has decided to re-record/master "A Life On Film" later on
as a b-side album!
Currently Lunara is in the process of writing a new album, which will
be their epic full-length and official debut release from the quintuplet. Be on the lookout for this next promising release!
Lunara currently resides in Houston Texas.
