ANTONIO CANTERIAlthough he describes himself as self-taught, Antonio Canteri had harmonica lessons from the Parisian maestro Jean Jacques Milteau.
He grew musically playing blues, being part of some important bands in the Verona area.
To begin he played for eight years in the John Papa Boogie Blues Band, among the first to play the “devil’s music†in Verona. Canteri later worked with Rudy Rotta, a world famous blues player from Verona, to then begin a very profound artistic relationship with the Madagascan guitarist, composer Tao Ravao, who he did a tour with in France, playing in some Parisian clubs and recording their first album, which came out in Verona with the Il Posto label, tied to the historic Verona music club of the same name, for twenty years one of the most important Italian clubs playing top quality live music. The disc was called From Madagascar to Chicago and included some original compositions by Ravao and a new reinterpretation of Robert Johnson.
Another important Texan style rock-blues experience was the excellent album To Blues or not To Blues by Lone Wolf.
Since 1993 he has played with Acoustic Duo with the guitarist Stefano Bersan.
With regards his discs, we must remember Canteri’s work with Bruno Lauzi on the CD Il piccolo esploratore, issued for Azzurra Music in the Author collection.
