QUICK NOTE
To me, music is an amazing tool for expression and sharing the most personal of moments and life experiences with those who hear it. In recent years, I have allowed myself to hide away in the shadow of music celebrity's and stars -concluding that it is futile for me to play, write or perform because I simply can't compare to those in the limelight. However, I have recently picked up the guitar again, and have enjoyed playing and singing songs that I've written in particular times in my life. To experience them again is to get a sense of that which I've been through. Music isn't to be dominated by the minority, but it's power of expression should be harnessed, shared and enjoyed by the majority, and I'm again coming to a place in my life and attitude where I enjoy music and singing for the sake of it.
I hope to get out my old digital 8-track and make some improved recordings of these songs, and some good quality recordings of new songs that I will take time to write. I welcome any feedback or comments.
After leaving home, I started to busk in the city subways. I enjoyed airing my songs and building up my confidence in such a raw environment. As most of what I played was in the subway, I made the transition from electric guitar (with the distortion pedal) to acoustic. My style became more gentle. Developing an ability to use finger patterns and play melodies and chords together, I have a sound that has developed to suit what I seem to naturally express through music.I've played one open-mic night, but am planning to find more opportunities for exposure (exposure of my music, and my own personal exposure to good company and inspiration). I just want to feel the buzz, once more, of being around and amongst those who similarly express their hopes, dreams, trials and tribulations through music.
