About Me
I was born to James and Cathy Diaz on April 11 1982 in Webster Groves, MO. My Grandma D. helped to raise me in my early days. Eventually we moved to Atlanta, GA for a couple years. Still to early to remember anything about it, but if Vanessa Vache says Georgia is cool, then thats enough for me. After that I got my first crack at LA. Lived in Thousand Oaks for a few years where my mom made me wear a life preserver near the pool, must be why I was such a dedicated swimmer later, fear of embarrassment is a good motivator. By the way my benvenudo, Cy Brown, is out in my old stomping grounds now performing as a seamster! Woot Go Cy!
The first place I really have memories from is living in Philadelphia, PA. We lived in New Town Square off the Main Line (but not the ritsy part..) and I lived next to a kid named Zach. Zach and I used to run down through the woods behind our house, jump a creek and go dumster diving for old radios, lamps and other "treasure" at a nearby apartment complex. I had finally made peace with the only kid I didn't consider myself friends with on the last day before we moved away from Philly.
From there we went to Minnesota, I was 7 at this point, my kid sister, Jessica, was 5 and Christina, the baby, was on her way already. Did my longest stretch there in the icy tundra up north, 10 years. Bounced around schools a little bit, never liked school anyway. I was really active in sports, swam year round on swim teams. Down hill skied, even raced for my high school team. I sailed in the summer, racing X-Boats (2-man, 2-sail, youth scows for those who might understand). Grew up on the lake for the most part. If you watch Dave Chappelle, there is an ep where he impersonates Prince and says "Why don't you cleanse yourselves in the cooling waters of lake minnetonka?" that is where I lived. I had some very stereotypical jobs, bussed-boy, paper-boy, pool-boy.. er scratch that :D I lived kind of in between the affluent and middle-class lifestyles. At public school I was on the wealthy side, but when I went to Breck (college prep school) I was near the bottom rung haha. And of course I couldn't even compare to the other kids who sailed... needless to say I had the scholarship boat!
When I was 17 and about to start my senior year we moved from Minnesota to Arizona.. thanks dad.. I finally get used to 80 below wind chills and you bring me to the ninth ring of hell.. cool! On top of that we move into the most fake city ever to have been created by one housing developer... Scottsdale aka Snottsdale. Place is unreal, every single house in the whole city is stucco with red tile roof with a pool. Its like a resort out there and no one took anything seriously. So I did my time at Desert Mountain HS and graduated. Got to do :Little Shop of Horrors: and I even played Kenickie in :Grease: and I got to go to the regional and national thespian conferences with the play Juvie in which I played Skip.
Finally I found out there was a place in Arizona where it snowed, there was no question once I visited, I needed some time in Flagstaff. I was right, it has been a good place for me. I have learned to roll with the punches a bit better here, and they certainly come. After my freshman year I got into a pretty narly motorcycle accident, broke both my legs and spent the next year learning how to walk again. But after a year recovering and a semester at SCC (scottsdale comm. college) I was ready to head back up the mountain and give theatre a shot as a college career. I found a lot of great friends in the dept. made a few enemies, broke a few hearts and let a few people break mine. I have performed in many roles small and large in NAU productions, one acts and student directed scenes. Last semester we took our play :He, Who Gets Slapped: to the American College Theatre Festival and performed. It was amazing. And as soon as we returned from that me and a lot of my friends jumped right into rehearsals for :Taming of the Shrew: in which I played Hortensio, the "In-door boy"
Currently I am web developer and technology specialist with Latino Perspectives Magazine and living in Phoenix. In my free time I visit friends to play guitar and banjo, spend QT with my dog; Kelly, and of course I try and get some visits to the virtual realms of Norrath and Telon (Everquest 2, and Vanguard worlds) when I can to see my friends there.
Umm so this is long already but I dont think I have said all that much.. thats my history. I am a pretty easy-going guy most of the time but I am certainly known to get worked up about things that are really important to me, or things that hurt a friend. I have probably spent an equal time in the real world as I have in the www since the age of 11, I love meeting people from all over not just where I live. I have moved a lot and I plan on moving a lot more. I am looking for a girl who will be my best-friend and my lover, I think thats what makes a mature relationship. I believe in questioning the world around you "The unexamined life is not worth living"(Gotta find quote book now I ferget who said that) One year when I was 15 I held the record for most rented movies in a single year for a non-employee at my local Hollywood video store with 304 videoes in one year, and I didn't even drive yet. I love theatre, movies, music, tv, art, pretty much I am just a media whore. I also love being out-doors, I used to camp almost weekly in minnesota as a boy-scout. I love water whenever I can be around it. I still eat the same foods I loved growing up, turkey sandwiches, hot dogs, cheese burgers, bagels, lots of milk and cheese in my diet... very midwestern hehe.Oh and if you like my tattoos check out the guys down at Tat-Fu Tattoo , Nick, Josh, Cameron, Bob and Matt are awesome!
