About Me

Hey Everyone. So you want to know a little bit more about me? Well, my name is Dave. I figure that’s a good place to start. I’m a 25-year-old singer-songwriter from a relatively small Indiana town called Anderson. I grew up listening to Springsteen, Motown, and The Beach Boys, so my writing tends to reflect that. Some of my other influences include Bruce Hornsby, Elton John, John Mayer, Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Johnny Cash, Coldplay, The Wallflowers, and The Damnwells. I also love film scores/soundtracks because this music proves that words are not always necessary to express a very specific emotion. When words are necessary, you simply can’t beat that good ol’ down home country music; humble stories dripping with honesty.
Living is my passion. I love meeting new people, having good conversations, and being challenged. A lot of the inspiration I gather comes from these types of relationships. My music is nothing more than my personal journal. When my mind is racing, I write as a way to process my thoughts, express my joys, bleed my sorrows, or sometimes just to imagine the world from a different place. Writing is my release. Some of my journal entries are put to melodies immediately, some need more time to ferment, and some are content with remaining nothing more than scribbled text on a page.
If you hadn’t noticed already, I offer out my music on a “Pay What You Want” basis. I do this simply because I don’t believe that a price tag should ever come between you and the songs. I think too many people have forgotten what really matters in the music business. Is it the music, or the business? I say the music. So here it is, no strings attached. Enjoy! If even a fraction of one my songs resonates with somebody else (maybe you), consider that my “paycheck”. That is so much more important and fulfilling than being “rich” or “famous” or any of that other crap musicians tend to care about these days. It is for this reason that I offer my music out for free. Pay only if you want to. So go tell your friends, family, or that random guy/girl that keeps winking at you in the video store checkout line. Everybody is welcome.
My first album as a solo artist,The Battle of Direction…, was released in the fall of 2007. The dominant theme throughout that record was that of uncertainty. What does our past mean? How did we get here? Why? Where do we go from here? These are the types of questions that the songs addressed, mainly because I was overwhelmed by those very questions at the time. I found myself lost, so I wrote songs about it. It just goes back to the whole journal thing. The ellipses in the title are an indicator that this is an ongoing battle. I don’t think any of us will ever have our life 100 percent figured out, therefore I didn’t want to make it seem as though The Battle of Direction is a one-time fight.
I decided to take the journal approach up a notch with my newest release, This is My World. This is going to tell my story through a series of 5-song EPs. These songs are based off of the situations and ponders that I find myself consumed by on a day-to-day basis. I am in no way trying to follow a central theme with this project. Part 1 consists of five songs that touch on a variety of topics: the simplicity of love, the complexity of life, addiction, corruption, and personal conviction. Each song tells a story of its own, but collectively they define who I am as an individual. Part 2 is already in the works and anticipated to be released sometime this coming fall. I don’t know how many EPs there will be total. I could see myself releasing a couple, moving onto a different project, and later picking up where I left off. I guess we’ll just see. I want to thank all of you; my family, friends, and fans for your continued support. I love you all!
