About Me

Ali Hoffman is a 24-year-old singer from Philadelphia. A current resident of Astoria (Queens), New York, she is enjoying the land of spanikopita and saganaki despite the fact that her loyalty will always lie with cheesesteaks and Tasty Kakes. But enough about sodium and cholesterol. Most of all, she loves to sing. Her father, who once owned a bar in Philadelphia, bestowed upon her the greatest gift a father could give an adamant young Raffi fan: an eclectic collection of bar tapes. Among these were a motley crew of singers and bands that she considers her most formative teachers. As the years went by, her hunger for music grew until it erupted from her mouth in the form of song--and it actually sounded pretty alright! She had caught the Disease. For those of you who aren't familiar with the Disease, don't look to me for an explanation. All I can tell you is that there is no cure...not that I'd ever want one.

I keep on trying to hide the fact I've got a worried mind...

I've been listening to Sam Cooke's "Night Beat" a lot lately. Incredible album. Most people associate Sam Cooke with his squeaky clean, flawless, smooth runs. He's definitely one of the prime examp...

We recorded this (My Mind Afire) the other day in a one-taker. It's very rough and I have no idea how the final product will turn out, but there's something I really enjoy about it. Without going in...
