Ariel Sotelo

Ariel Sotelo is currently living in Hermosillo Son. teaching acoustic and electric guitar, theory, modern armonie and improvisation, as well as composing, arranging and playing. He gives classes by internet, private lessons and teaches at CEUARTE(University Center of Arts and Culture) and ICES (Science and Higher Education Institute). He began to play at age twelve,learning pop and rock tunes, later he got interested in jazz and classical music; studying classical guitar at The School of Fine Arts in the University of Morelia and later at the National Conservatory in Mexico City; took courses in modern armonie and improvisation by Howard Roberts, Ernie Berle and Vincent Bredice; He headed a Contemporary Guitar Academy in Tijuana B.C. for more than six teen years, at the same time played with several pop and jazz groups, including his Jazz Fusion Trio in the Tijuana,San Diego Cal. area, he has accompanied various singers of different styles in Tijuana, San Diego and Hermosillo and is currently recording his second C.D. as a soloist and a second instructional d.v.d.Ariel Sotelo vive actualmente en Hermosillo, Son. donde da clases de guitarra acústica y eléctrica, teoría , armonia moderna e improvisación, así como componiendo, haciendo arreglos y tocando. Da clases por internet, a domicilio y enseña en CEUARTE(Centro Universitario de Arte y Cultura), y en ICES(Instituto de Ciencias y Educación Superior) donde dirige un taller de guitarra contemporánea e imparte clases de teoría musical. Empezo a tocar a la edad de 12 años, aprendiendo con canciones de pop y rock, mas tarde se interesó por la música clásica y el jazz. Hizo estudios en la Escuela de Bellas Artes de la Universidad de Morelia, Michoacan y después en el Conservatorio Nacional de Música en la Cd. de México, tomó cursos de armonía moderna e improvisación por Howard Roberts, Ernie Berle y Vincent Bredice. Dirigió su Academía de Guitarra Contempóranea por más de 16 años en Tijuana, B.C. al mismo tiempo tocando en diferentes agrupaciones musicales de pop y jazz incluyendo su trio de jazz/rock (fusion). Ha acompañado a cantantes de diferentes estilos en Tijuana, Hermosillo, y Sn. Diego, Ca.; está actualmente grabando su segundo c.d. como solista y su segundo d.v.d instruccional.
