Queer & Trans Vagina Monologues

About Me

THE ACTUAL DATE OF OUR PERFORMANCE WILL BE MARCH 8TH AND 9TH FROM 8:00PM - 10:00PM AT THE NEW YORK CITY LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL AND TRANSGENDER COMMUNITY CENTER LOCATED AT 208 WEST 13TH STREET BETWEEN 7TH AND 8TH AVE.
We are organizing a production of Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues, early March 2008 in NYC, using a cast of Queer and Trans-identified womyn and folks who live their lives as vagina/cunt having entities.
And we've finally secured a rehersal/meeting space!!
We will be using Project Reach in Chinatown.
We have a first audition/orientation/get to know each other/brainstorming/networking meeting scheduled!!!!!!
SAVE THE DATE!!!SATURDAY FEBRUARY 8th from 5:30pm-8:30pm at Project Reach which is located at 1 Orchard Street in Manhattan's Chinatown. Go to www.hopstop.com for directions. There may be snacks and we all LOVE snacks!!! If you help out and bring snacks I will love you forever.
We have been allied with Reach in various ways for years now. And now they are doing us this fabulous favor!!! The director and a good chunk of the staff are queer people of color. They are all POC, youth, queer, womyn, social justice/empowerment focused.
AND they have a glorious space.
Sadly, its not wheelchair accessible, which sucks and doesn't fit into our vision of total inclusion. But if differently abled folk are cool with it, we would be down with self-accessing. Its a second floor walk up, and we can help carry chairs, assist folk up stairs, and whatever else is needed. If you forsee the stairs being an issue, please don't let that deter you from coming! Email us with your concern and we will work something out that you're comfortable with.
All questions or concerns should be directed to the organizers at: vday2008nyc at gmail dot com or reply to this post.
And FYI: This meeting is open to EVERYONE who is interested in helping out. Folks of all gender IDs and queers of all persuasions are welcolme as well as allies. We need help from everyone of all gender IDs with the performance and fundraisers. There will also be other performance opportunities for those who want to grace our stage, but don't ID as a womyn
We want to create a cast and crew of passionate queer/trans folks who want to volunteer their time to perform, help with outreach, organize fundraisers and much more. .
We can't wait to see folks there!
About V-Day V-Day is a global movement to end violence against women and girls that raises funds and awareness through benefit productions of Playwright/Founder Eve Ensler’s award winning play The Vagina Monologues. 2008 marks V-Day’s 10 year anniversary and with it V-Day has introduced two new events, V-Day’s A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer: Writings on Violence Against Women and Girls, and the V-Day documentary Until The Violence Stops.
