In 2007, a new artist named So$a came on the scene and quickly became one of the most prolific MC's in the Bahamian society. His swag and raspy voice made his style unique and powerful. The Nassau Guardian Newspaper describes So$a as “one of, if not the hottest MC on the island. Most of you know him because of his parties but he is one of the hottest MC’s to come out of Caribbean in the last 5 years. We have some of the most talented lyricist in the Caribbean but So$a definitely stands out with his style, lyrics, witty delivery and swagger.†(Nassau, Bahamas; Dec 2007)So$a entered the music industry in the Bahamas in 2006, establishing a truly independent environment of releasing his own music and producing his own shows in his region. In 2007, So$a released the album ‘International Dreams’ and embarked on an independent mini-tour stopping in Nassau, Bahamas; Halifax, Canada; Nashville, Tennessee & Tampa, FL. In 2008, So$a released the album ‘My Campaign’ and embarked on a successful 5 show music series resembling the MTV Unplugged setting over the summer in the Bahamas. In total So$a has sold & distributed over 5000 albums and have packed clubs in three different countries (Bahamas, United States & Canada), while producing & organizing over 20 concert/party events to promote his independent releases. Locally So$a has revitalized the region’s independent music industry becoming the first rap artist in his country to receive video play on the Caribbean ’s version of MTV, the Tempo Station. So$a continues to establish himself as a popular figure in the region by organizing annual events and bringing together the countries major sponsors and the local music talent.In 2007, STypz Production & Development Group signed So$a to a development contract. During 2008, STypz group has taken So$a to new heights developing a unique breezy hip hop & R n B sounding artists. They also helped to develop two of the country’s most popular radio joints featuring So$a, introducing the artist into regular rotation on every radio station in the Bahamas. During 2007 & 2008, So$a has had over 30 performances making him one of the country’s most dynamic new performers.
