Shawty Raw is a talent in and of his own right. Hailing from Wilson, North Carolina, Shawty Raw has been blessing rap fans with his lyrical talent since his early teenage years. Born as Marquell Edmondson, he spent his youth plagued with obstacles, strife and struggle. After surviving a gunshot wound in the head, Shawty Raw, now 23 years of age, emerged from the heartache of the streets as a blueprint for success, mastering the arts of freestyle, song writing, and music production. As the first official rap artist representing North Carolina, Shawty Raw’s talents is one of many, as he rolls with a camp of other artists who also maintain the same level of skill. Otherwise known as the K.I.L.O. camp (Killing Individuals Lyrically Overnight), this mirage of talent was created several years ago in the heart of Greenville, South Carolina. Although this is a camp of many, the founding group consists of Big June, Reese B, Arson and, of course, Shawty Raw himself. As a veteran in the rap game, he has released several works, including three mixtapes, titled “Paper or Plastic,” “Starting Lineup,” “K.I.L.O in da House” and a long-awaited album set to hit the airwaves at a moments notice. Thanks to the addition of a stellar management team consisting of Hardtop, born Darnell Lashley, of Hardtop Entertainment, Inc. and Hostile, born Lee Vargas, Shawty Raw is finally on his way to the top. To date, he has made many guest appearances on highly-acclaimed DVDs such as “Hood”; “Real Talk,” “The Bigger Picture,” and “Hard Body TV” to name a few. Shawty Raw is the long-awaited answer to what the streets have been missing and what true hip-hop fans have been yearning for. Providing a mixture of raw Southern Style with East Coast delivery, his music attracts the ears of rap fans hailing from across the globe .
