MITCH AND THE BUCCANONS

The story of Mitch and the Buccanon's begins with the Buccanon Brothers, Nicky and Sammy at their family farm in South Dakota in the US of A.

Nicky and Sammy Buccanon were born and raised in South Dakota. Their origins are clouded in mystery but a tale, published in the local town newspaper, The Daily Turnip, sheds some light on their early origins. The Buccanon family had, until one fateful day, been of the ordinary church going sort. Their Father, a wood whittling farmer with a love of bloodhounds and moonshine, was slowly becoming unhinged. Their mother, a slightly flaky hippie, had been lacing his morning grits with magic mushrooms. Being isolated on their rural farmstead there was no one to notice the growing situation and step in on behalf of the small Buccanon boys-It was a time bomb waiting to happen. It all came to a head one day, when the family was out in the fields bringing in the corn harvest. Little Sammy was handed up to ride with his father in the harvester. Unfortunately, in his mushroom induced haze, the elder Buccanon lost control of the vehicle and little Sammy to fall into the blades. Poor Sammy was seriously injured that day, loosing his voice, his hearing and his right eye. The Buccanon brothers home was destroyed that day. The father wracked with guilt over his actions, turned to alchohol for comfort? and the mother, whose cooking methods were to blame. was remanded to a secure mental health facility for treatment.
Along with their parents the boys lost their ability to trust authority. Nicky and little Sammy Buccanon moved into an old barn on an abandoned farm where their only connection to the real world was through their mutual love of music. Growing up in this kind of isolation, they became extremely close.
In that old barn they discovered music (and eventually how hanging around old pesticides could cause permanent damage to growing minds).
Nicky played his grandpa's old guitar and Sammy, otherwise deaf to the world of sound, drummed loudly on whatever he could find so he could feel the rhythm.
Mitch and the Buccanon's was born as a rock band in the early nineties after Nicky Buccanon met up Mitch Schreckenheimmer in a strip club in downtown Rapid City. Legend has it that they met while fighting over the same girl. Seeing that they shared a lot in common, despite their different backgrounds, they decided to split the cost of the dancer. Apparently, the whore was mythical in her splendour and offered them the best ride ever!
Mitch Schreckenheimmer is an ex-East German citizen from Leipzig. His love of cowboy culture and his self made cowboy outfits meant that he was constantly in trouble with the Stasi. He soon saw that his artistic vision could not be realized in his homeland and so he left everything behind snuck across the border. Rumor has it that his freedom was won by tying himself to the bottom of a goat. But there is another legend that says he used unatural powers to subdue the guards and thereby cross the border. Whatever the truth of it, Mitch found freedom and the American dream in Rapid City, South Dakota where he was worked the land, and came to call it home.
On that day at the whore house, when the musically gifted Buccanon brothers found the singer they were missing, things fell into place and greatness was born.
That was 17 year ago and these guys are still playing together and their mid-western Garage sound is heard all across Northern America! They've played with the greatest bands in rock history like Doug Mitchell and the Scuba Diving Reptiles, O.D., Country Boys No More, Death in the Cemetery, The Toyota's and many others.
