THE STORY OF BEE PHONIC.....I (Bobby) was in Portland, Oregon where I live working hard at my job and feeling overloaded. I experienced 4 deaths in my family in less than 3 years and, at the same time, my father was fighting cancer. Due to all of the events, I was unable to take any time off or take any trips. I was a beginning songwriter, and many people encouraged me to follow my dreams with music. I was frustrated at first when I heard this. I was like how could I break into this competitive business when there are millions of great songs being pitched every day to artists, publishers, and record labels. I decided to pray to God and ask him if there was any truth to the advice that my friends had challenged me with. My father recovered from his surgery to remove the cancer and was able to come back to the office in a couple of months. I was finally able and persuaded to take a vacation. I flew to the best music spot in the world (and one of my very favorite places) Nashville, TN. The second day I got there I decided I was going to my favorite restaurant to get my favorite thing to eat- which is fondue at the Melting Pot. I opened up the door and there stood my favorite Christian artist of all time- Michael English. Right away I asked him if I could have a hug. I told him that I had been trying to meet him for years and that he personally helped me through some of the toughest times in my life. He thanked me and invited me out to a concert he was performing nearby the following weekend. Michael sang his heart out and gave every one in the crowd goose bumps and tears. But that was not all that happened that night. During Michael's intermission, he had a young man come and sing while he took a break. This kid had some hard shoes to follow. he stepped up to the microphone and sang Bebo Norman's "Great Light of The World." I literally lost my breathe. God spoke to my heart and said "This is the man you have to sign to a record label." I thought I was going nuts. One- I didn't know much about running a record label and two- was unsure of how much money it would take or three- would my producer be willing to work with this kid and four- would this singer be available and interested in working together. God told me in prayer that "Nothing is impossible for me to do in your life. Now follow what I told you and go speak to him." I went up to this kid- named CHRIS LEE- and complemented him on his beautiful gift and asked him if would like to be signed to a label if I could make that happen for him. I asked him first if he would sing on my song demos. My producer called him and arranged a time for him to come and sing. My producer was also blown away by Chris' talent. We knew without a shadow of a doubt this vision that everyone had told me to follow was starting to come true. Weeks later I formed Bee Phonic Music Group. The name comes from the nickname my Grandmother gave me, "B." She is the one that told me to write music. It is what I do best. So I named the label Bee Phonic- meaning the sounds of the bee because I believe every tune you will hear will represent who or what I long to be every day of my life as a Christian that tries to follow my lord and savior Jesus.
