MY BROTHER, A SOLDIER'S STORY:
I'm the proud big sister of Spc. Joseph Bridges, a US Army 1-8 Cavalry (Purple Heart) Soldier wounded in Iraq! He was the Gunner on top of an unarmored hummer and was shot twice once in the leg which blew his leg apart and once in the jaw which shattered it. We were told by Spc. Taylor Burk (the medic in his vehicle) that the men in the vehicle panicked for a moment. My brother shouted to them that everything was going to be fine, that they weren't going to die they were going to live through this. He told them all what to do and they all pulled together. My brother continued to shoot his gun on top of the hummer. All this while wounded and literally bleeding to death! When he had lost so much blood that he could no longer stand up Taylor pulled him down and while he lay in the back of the hummer my brother pulled out his hand gun and started firing to save his men. We were told by his commanding officers that he had 30 confirmed kills that evening. Later that evening my brother died and had to be brought back to life.
He was in many battles before that bad one (some hand-to-hand) in Iraq and God brought him through them all. My brother is one tough Soldier! He would LOVE nothing better than to join his buddies back in Iraq. That would be his dream. He has been through many surgeries and is recovering thanks to God's wonderful grace! But he has a long road to recovery and won't ever be 100% well again. But we are blessed to have him here. If you ask him about his actions over there he will not talk about them and will tell you about the other men and their heroic actions instead. If you ask the others they will tell you he is the hero. This is exactly why they are ALL HEROES!
OUR FRIEND TAYLOR'S STORY, THE ARMY MEDIC:
Our friend and brother Spc. Taylor Burk a US Army Combat Medic 1-8 Cavalry was killed in Iraq. Taylor helped save my brother's life in Iraq. He worked on my wounded brother while he was wounded himself. He never told anyone he had been hit. He continued to work on my brother while wounded himself. Taylor stood up to his Commanding Officer and insisted that my brother be taken to the hospital as it was the only way to save his life. But this would mean going back through unfamiliar enemy territory at night. Taylor was right. He got my brother there just in time. He never left my brother's side until they were sure my brother would live. When Joe came to Taylor was sitting in a chair bedside with his wound bandaged and that's when my brother found out Taylor had been shot after he had been.
Taylor requested to be sent back to Iraq after healing. Then they gave him a job at headquarters. That would not work for Taylor. He kept pushing until he was back out on the frontlines. He was driving a humvee in a convoy when a powerful roadside bomb made from a 155 mm artillery shell exploded next to his armored Humvee. Taylor was killed on January 26, 2005.
Taylor received the Purple Heart With Cluster and 2 Bronze Stars for his bravery in helping to save my brother's life. Taylor was asked to stay here but wanted to go back for himself and my brother since my brother could not go back. Taylor was a brave young man. We miss him badly!

*DO NOT send a friend request to view your "hot pics" or your CDs or to promote yourself or anything you are selling! It is disrespectful to this Soldier's memory and I will deny your request!MY FAMILY - PATRIOTS -
I'm the proud Sister-in-law of Jimmy a Marine from Desert Storm and proud cousin of Marcus, an Air Force vet of over 22 years of service.
I come from a long line of Patriots! Almost every male on both sides of my family has served in some branch of the military as far back as I can trace my genealogy...which goes back to the Revolutionary War, the Civil War to Desert Storm and the current Operation Iraqi Freedom. I have lost many of them in those battles. I am proud and thankful for them all. Generations of my family's blood has been spilled to protect this great country! It's in my DNA and part of who I am. I know of no other way than to love America AND to love those who fight to protect her.
MY SUPPORT OF OUR TROOPS
I love making friends with our Troops here on My Space. Any chance I get to thank one personally I will not pass up.
To put it simply... I PROUDLY STAND BEHIND OUR TROOPS with every breath in my body!
I do not tolerate anyone talking about our troops or putting them down. If you don't agree with them or their mission you had better take your opinions far away from me!
