I enjoy gardening, poetry, ice hockey, midget-tossing and auto-erotic asphyxiation. Er..wait, wrong profile. I like live music, camping, shooting, hunting, reading. I'd add plays, museums and travel if I actually ever had time to do any of those things.
Someone with whom I can hold an intelligent discussion but who can also appreciate a good redneck dive bar. Someone who likes to work with their hands. Someone who holds well-reasoned opinions. Someone who might stop their car on the way home just to sit and listen to the river for a minute. Someone who appreciates what they have. No social climbers. Nobody vapid, self-centered or who values style over substance. Nobody who believes Michael Moore makes incisive documentaries or who thinks Sean Hannity is tough but fair-minded. No yankees.
I like old country, bluegrass, some jam band stuff, lots of folk like John Prine and Arlo Guthrie, classic rock, etc. Actually, I'm pretty open to most music-just don't much cotton to R&B or rap.
Too expensive, and those damn noisy kids...Mostly I stick to what's on AMC. Big Steve McQueen fan-The Sand Pebbles is probably my all-time favorite. When McQueen hits that Nationalist student leader in the chest with that ax-gold, pure gold I tell ya! Of course, no hot Ali McGraw action in that one.
My television is a ten year old 27 inch GE. Ran me $270 brand new. It's got a big crack in the plastic and the tube's going, all the result of earthquake damage suffered in 1997. I haven't had it hooked up to anything other than a VCR in over five years.
I read a whole bunch. Mostly non-fiction, history, current events, but I enjoy a pretty wide variety of stuff: Hemingway, Hunter Thompson, Tom Wolfe, T.C. Boyle...Keith's been on my ass forever to finish the Dark Tower series. I haven't read The DaVinci Code and I don't intend to. Currently muddling my way thru Roy Jenkin's bio of Churchill.
OK, my grandparent's entire generation. Dick Winters. Gary Gordon and Randy Shugart. Jack Singlaub. David Hackworth. Brian Chontosh. Every member of our armed forces who're downrange right now. Thomas Jefferson. Teddy Roosevelt. Charlie Wilson. I could go on...
