Jumpin & Matterhorn

About Me

Eclectic rave samples, sped up break beats, and impulsive genre changing is the only way to classify the powerhouse production squad known as Jumpin & Matterhorn. Veterans of electronic dance music and both armed with PHDs in Music Technology, the Cascadia tagteam is once again suiting up and preparing to do battle.
The hardcore duo has been breaking beats and blowing minds in the northwest since early 90’s, playing along many of the great early pioneers of the northwest rave scene. “The best music you’ve never heard” was the groups motto, for they would only play the nastiest gritty and illegal massives! Sadly this tactic as legendary as it was, was also one of the groups main downfalls. Their Underground superstardom was so underground that no big promoters would book them. After a long discussion and very heated debate, the group decided to go into seclusion. The pair’s escape from the spotlight was to give focus to their project as well as realize the full scope of their influence.
After two years of silence the two piece drop their first ever vinyl release “Floor Limit”. Instead of having to go through all the red tape and paperwork of a record label release, the group decided to do their release themselves. They did as such by completely financing, producing, pressing, and distributing all their own copies. Only 100 copies of the release actually exist and were delivered by hand to local record joints all around the Seattle area.
After raising funds via the record release the team moved to Osaka Japan to complete their college schooling at OSU. Once in Japan they started picking up influence’s from the native pop music. Learning the structure of harmonics, and the abilities of hook driven vocals. These unlikely elements helped sculpt the new sound of Jumping & Matterhorn.
Five years and two PHD’s later the boys came back home and resumed creating tracks in their small apartment in downtown Kent Washington:
“As soon as we got home, we started busting out tons of tracks. Nothing we’d ever release, just stuff for us, not really anyone else. We just made what we wanted to hear. And in all honesty we were not going to make electronic music anymore and just start writing hooks for artists until we got a letter from our old landlord. It was apiece of fan mail from this 16-year-old kid who wrote us before we left. It never reached us due to our moving to Japan. Anyways our old landlord held onto it, and just accidentally dug it up out of some old papers. The letter really inspired us. That one kid, took the time to actually sit down and write us a letter, not an email, but busted some paper and wrote us. We thought so much of this that we’d give this whole electronic music thing one more chance. And thats how we got here I guess."
Please feel free to tell us what you think of the tracks! Also if you guys have any suggestions, we are all ears! And if you are interested in book hit us up at:
