Bob Barney (New song is up)

It had already been a long and tumultuous journey for singer /songwriter Bob Barney before his first steps ever began. He had always been the “drummer in the band” playing in many aimless and assorted acts around town in his early teens while being a sort of closet-singer in the school choir.
Bob continuously battled with the idea of college and pursuing a future he had no desire for. Although he attended a few semesters at a community college, music pulled a little harder.
In the summer of 2001, Bob began to crawl out of his shell and was asked to sing in a local alternative rock band called Beggar Threads, contributing one song and co-writing another. The band had meager attention in Houston and would later disperse in 2003 over differences in direction. For the next three years, Bob picked up the guitar and tried writing his own music while learning to record himself at home. He sent out a couple of misguided demos and tried mingling with other musicians who always presented one problematic issue or another. Bob finally pulled together his brother and a friend to form This Empty Space in 2005. The assembly of musicians also inevitably went nowhere due to schedule conflicts.
Bob then spent another year writing and some time on the open-mic stage to try to promote himself as an artist. Then, in the summer of 2006, Waiting on Red was formed. The band played many shows all throughout 2007 and released an epk but never reached its full potential in the industrial-based climate of Houston. Dizzy but not disheartened, Bob pursued expanded opportunities in Austin. With the release of his first solo project in January and the newest "The First to lose His Leaves" ep due out in late August, Bob's future seems promising.
