Born on the Day of the Mold Breaker, Erik "E-FRESH" Ramirez is and has always been a music lover, no matter the genre. Growing up in the mid-1970s, E-FRESH was exposed to all types of music from Big Band/Swing music of the 1940's to the sounds of Mariachi music from Mexico as well as the Oldies sounds of the 1950s and 1960s. But when E-FRESH first heard Hip Hop music he knew that he had found his musical soul. The song that hooked him into the Hip Hop Culture was The Message by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. From then on, E-FRESH was listening to Hip Hop just as much as every other style of music.
When E-FRESH was 13 years old, he knew he wanted to be a part of the creative process of making music. He was influenced by the sounds of N.W.As producer Dr. Dre. The sounds on Straight Outta Compton were so clear and precise, he felt he could be just as good as a producer. But as time went on, E-FRESH realized that production wasn't his true calling. E-FRESH loved playing with equalization on his Panasonic dual cassette tape player to make the music he listened to sound better. That was the beginning of his aspirations of becoming an Audio Engineer.
Once out of high school, E-FRESH was in and out of college but never pursued music in any form until 1995 when he attended a Bay Area community college and began taking classes in the Broadcasting Arts field. He was an on-air student radio DJ for only a year because he realized that wasn't what he really wanted to do. At the same time he entered the Electronic Music program and was very much into these classes. It helped him learn more about Midi as well as the basic recording process.
It wasn't until 2005 when he heard about the Los Angeles Recording School, a school which trained E-FRESH to become a Certified Recording Engineer, where he would eventually begin attending in February 2006. Once he was there he knew he had found his calling.
Since graduating in November 2006, E-FRESH has assisted on projects for After Midnight Productions and for DMP as Soundtrack Engineer on the Friends and Family 2007 compilation CD. He also lends his ears to assist ACE (AAusic Entertainment), his close friend and former classmate at LARS.
E-FRESH has been focusing his attention on creating remixes which he hopes will catch the attention of artists and producers looking for a producer/engineer to remix songs of their own. From time to time, E-FRESH will write and record a song of his own or drop a 16 bar verse on songs with ACE. But that is a rarity.
In the future, E-FRESH hopes to open his own studio where he can help up and coming artists record their projects and make sure they have quality sounding demos as well as complete albums. When his time comes, everyone will know the name E-FRESH and Mold Breaker Entertainment.
