Robert Asocar

Robert Asocar was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, and grew up in San Antonio. He began taking violin lessons when he was 10, and attended North Texas State University on a performance scholarship. There he studied jazz improvisation with Rich Madison, jazz vocalisation and arrangement with Lew Gillis and performed in the University orchestra under Anshel Brusilov. Being chosen from the orchestra, Robert had the opportunity to open for the Pointer Sisters at their performance at the University's stadium in spring 1976. Before and since college, he's performed and recorded a wide variety of musical styles with a multitude of artists, including Carol Howell, The Apaches of Paris, Johnny Rodriguez, Monty Montgomery, Rusty Wier, Jerry Jeff Walker, Chris Wall, Holly Dunn, Blaze Foley, Rich Minus, Danny Click, Trish Murphy, Mary Ann Price, Chris O'Connell, Ponty Bone, Merle Brigante, Ernie Durawa, Lesli Wood, Paul Logan, Jeff Roy, Chris Gougler, DeWayne Davis, and Minnie Moore. One CD in the Rock genre, Mercy Dance, Robert recorded with Carol Howell, and toured The Netherlands to promote it with him in 1995. He's also had the privilege of playing with Billy Bob Thornton on the silver screen in the recent release, The Alamo. Robert is married with 2 sons, 1 stepson, 1 stepdaughter and 7 grandchildren. He currently lives in Lago Vista, Texas with his wife, mother-in-law, 8 cats & kittens, 5 racoons and hundreds of white tail deer.....
