I was built in 1996. Model Treeve DS25 Fishing Boat and am very sea worthy.INTRODUCTION TO A LEGENDThe unparalleled experience that goes into each of our boats is a result of over three decades of professional boatbuilding to the very highest specifications. There are quite literally hundreds of TREEVE BOATS working daily throughout the year in extremely demanding environments, consequently their seaworthiness is second to none. The 1960s saw the closing of so many wooden boatbuilding yards, especially those yards long established as small inshore specialists and builders of beach and cove boats - which were the life blood of the small fishing communities throughout the South West. Styles and types were regional but localised down to the level of one builder for 1 or 2 coves. The shape of the keel or the lift of a bilge and the length of a bilge keel differed in detail down to just a few miles of coast or just a bay or headland. The individual builder with his personalised understanding of those local requirements is already passing into the pages of history but not altogether, there are a few builders left almost down to one or two per county. We feel at Treeve Boats we have retained that tradition of individuality of construction.Rising costs in 1976 brought us to the conclusion that no longer could we continue with so many varied designs individually crafted in timber. The transition was started from timber frames with foam and glass-fibre, through to solid fibreglass hulls. The necessity had arrived and the time was ripe to produce a standard 16' cove boat.Based on the knowledge and traditions of fishermen throughout the Penwith area from the Doom bar of Padstow past Hayle, St Ives and Sennen Cove around the treacherous Lands End. and into Mount's Bay, passing Pemberth, Lamorna, Mousehole and Newlyn. The sea conditions experienced in this small corner of the United Kingdom are as violent and varied as can be found anywhere along the British coast.TREEVE BOATS are constructed to standard far in excess of the specifications laid down by Lloyds and are built by craftsmen, highly qualified and experienced in their respective trades. The resultant combination of traditional hardwood fitting out and the strength of the modern GRP hull has found favour with satisfied customers throughout the world.Every TREEVE BOAT is individually tailored to the customers specific requirements and the list of applications is endless. Orders have included boats for use as ships tenders, ferries, harbour launches, safety vessels, passenger launches, pleasure cruisers, angling boats, sailing boats and last but certainly not least, hundreds of professional fishing boats. You can rest assured that as a customer of TREEVE BOATS you will be treated to a personal service that is second to none in the industry and that your boat will have a pedigree synonymous with strength, durability and economy of operation. The Designer
