About Maurice Maurice Benard (born Mauricio Jose Morales on March 1, 1963) is an American actor of Nicaraguan and Salvadoran ethnicity. Benard started his soap career as Nico Kelly on All My Children from 1987 to 1989. Today he is known primarily for his Daytime Emmy Award-winning portrayal of romantic mobster Michael "Sonny" Corinthos, Jr. on the ABC soap opera, General Hospital, a role he has portrayed since 1993. Benard won a Daytime Emmy [and SOD Award] for his work as Sonny in 2003. The Godfather Sonny Corinthos was born in blue-collar Benson Hurst, New York, in Brooklyn. Sonny first appeared on the show as a strip club owner and low-level mobster… Originally conceived as a short-term foil in the romance of the front burner couple Karen Wexler and Jagger Cates, the character became popular with writers and fans, quickly going from a villainous foil to one of the main characters in the series, with actor Maurice Benard moved to contract status. Originally conceived as a villain, Sonny's character was softened in 1993, when he took in troubled teenager, Stone Cates, who became a good friend. When Stone died of AIDS in 1995, Sonny was devastated. Sonny is also a devoted Roman Catholic and his religious faith is emphasized by the soap opera as a means to contrasting against his more ruthless mobster day job. Because of his criminal career, members of his family are shadowed by bodyguards, live in homes with bulletproof windows and guards at the door, and travel in cars with bulletproof glass. His children have witnessed car bomb explosions and have been sent to Sonny's private island for safekeeping, causing them to miss school. Sonny is bipolar, which combined with his career in organized crime, has caused Sonny to routinely break out in acts of senseless violence. About Megan Megan Marie Ward (born September 24, 1969 in Los Angeles, California) is an American actress best known for her numerous credits in science fiction and horror movies and television series. In 2007, she joined the cast of the American daytime drama General Hospital as Kate Howard. At the age of nine, she began doing commercials for local department stores. In her early teens, she went to Japan for modeling jobs and stayed for several years. Having previously learned to speak the language from her schooling in Hawaii, she landed a job hosting a Japanese television show. After graduating from high school, Ward moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career, and secured roles in science-fiction and comedy movies (including the 1994 Tom Stern/Alex Winter horror/comedy Freaked). In the mid-1990s, Ward had a recurring role on the show Party of Five. Following the death of her Party of Five character, Ward took the lead role in the Cold War UFO thriller Dark Skies. Since the cancellation of Dark Skies, Ward has kept busy appearing in mainly direct-to-video films such as Tick Tock and Mirror Man as well as TV series such as Summerland, Sports Night, Kevin Hill, and Boomtown, in which she had a substantial part. The Queen Of Couture The character was introduced to the show in May 2007 when she walked into Sonny's office unannounced and claimed that her cell phone was inoperative because of a thunderstorm. She at first pretended that she did not know Sonny, but he kept questioning her and looking at her until he realized who she was, Connie Falconeri from Benson Hurst. Kate Howard is considered one of the "100 Most Powerful Women in America." Kate Howard was arrested for reckless driving and for a hit and run. She side swiped a police car and did not stop. She also has a prior traffic violation in which she also side swiped a parked car while she was in the Hamptons, but did not stop. She received a six months suspended license for the first violation. Kate cites this as one of the reasons why she moved to Port Charles. Her lawyer had advised her to not visit the Hamptons for a while and thus, she bought the house in Port Charles. Upon learning of Kate's close relationship with Sonny, Trevor (Kate's friend and former lover), contacted personal friends to remove advertisements from Couture. He wanted to blackmail Kate into choosing between him and her career or Sonny. She chose her career. After a confrontation between her and Trevor, Kate was drugged and got into a car accident. She was later arrested and tried for reckless driving. She received six months of community service and forced to wear an ankle monitor thanks to Sonny blackmailing the judge. She is now doing community service as part of her six month community service sentence. Trevor had her fired from Couture magazine due to a breach of her contract. The Present Kate came to Port Charles to find a house "in the country". She walked into Sonny's office demanding to use his phone. At first, he didn't recognize her, but she recognized him instantly. She did not tell him they knew each other, she lied about her past to him when he asked. Finally he figured out who she was.
