They became the major force in ROCK AGAINST RASCISM, playing more concerts than any other band in the movement. This opened up a whole new audience for the band who quickly developed a very strong cross over audience, playing with acts such as TOM ROBINSON, THE RUTS and ELVIS COSTELLO.
RASTA and PUNK, both disenchanted with the high unemployment and disillusioned with the destructive government policies of the time became unlikely allies on stage. The same urgency for change existed in both camps, although musically very different, both expressed the same needs.
The well known punk band THE RUTS had a release on MISTY IN ROOTS’s label, People Unite, in the early 80’s as if to reinforce the ties between the two cultures.
Bampy's experience then, working with PAUL FOX from THE RUTS has now bought him full circle to playing with DUBCATS, the band Paul himself put together.
He will feature on the last album Paul recorded with DubCats. To be released soon ot of Bunny Lee studio, Jamaica.
