The Former Something

About Me

We are The Former Something, an original rock band based in the Portland, ME area. We are a bunch of adrenaline junkies that love to get sideways any way possible; on the pavement, in the surf, or balls deep in some pristine East Coast powder (which unfortunantely hasn't happened in a while). When mother nature's not helping us get our fix, we've found that rockin' out in front of a rowdy crowd is a great alternative. So come on down to our next show, leave the inhibitions at the door, and wreak some havoc on the dance floor. Who knows, maybe someday when we're filthy rich and famous we'll let you party down in our slope-side condo / mansion. Ride hard, rock on. -TFS ************************************************************ ** Promobody div table tbody tr td font {visibility:hidden;}View The Former Something's EPK

Influences: Our influences are born from the plethora of accumulative disfunction in society, growing progressively worse from decade to decade for the past few centuries or so. Here are some of the groups and individuals who have influenced our musical tastes:Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Pink Floyd, The Grateful Dead, Phish, The Beatles, Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, Sublime, Tom Petty, Strangefolk, Nirvana, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Neil Young, Bob Marley, Modest Mouse, The Band, Beastie Boys, Ben Harper, Hendrix, Coltrane, Lennon, Skynyrd, Red Hot Chili Reppers, The Who, just to name a few.Global Warming Sucks--Pray For Snow: Will Ferrell - Bush on Global Warming on Transbuddha
Sounds Like: What we sound like is highly classified information. I'd love to tell you, but I'd hate to be the reason that you woke up in the middle of the night to a bunch of masked agents dressed in black jamming high-powered automatic rifles in your face and taking you away to an undisclosed location to surgically remove the part of your brain that has stored that information. For your personal safety, it'd be a lot easier to listen to the songs we have posted here, come check us out live at our next show, and decide for yourself what we sound like. We've been told by a few fans that "TFS is a West Coast band thriving in the North East," if that gives you some idea. Sounds good to us.
