A studio world music project by Eugene Manko aka Scaramousche, featuring his own compositions on the first album, Fiddler O’ No Fiddle (2006) and arrangements of Ukrainian traditional songs on the second album, Buffalo Dance (2007).
The first album is performed by Scaramousche on acoustic guitar, bass guitar, flute, recorders, percussion, melodica, accordion and other nice stuff, and features also Eugene Zhebko (virtuoso acoustic solo guitar) on a couple of tracks and Yurek Yakubov (Nedobalkan) on Mahalo guitarella on one other track.
The second album is a full-time collaboration between Scaramousche and Nedobalkan (see also Raskardaš Orkestar ) with Scaramousche performing on most of the stuff and singing, and Nedobalkan playing domra and singing too, and also being the expert on Ukrainian folk songs and language.
It’s so far unpredictable when there’s going to be the next Papalotl album; it depends chiefly on how soon I’ll compose a handful of new tunes.
