Faith Is The Ship Home Tonight

About Me

In the Fall of 2002, guitarists Kurt Galiatsatos and Anthony Moffa went to school together in Danvers, where they originally formed a band, dubbed Cold Fusion. After meeting and jamming with Eric Hanko, a popular drummer at the school, he was asked to join Cold Fusion...and agreed. At the end of 8th grade, Eric went to the prep, and met Paul Bonner. Soon, Paul became the bassist of the band in the Fall of 2003. The band spent a year with this line-up, doing mostly covers and struggling to put originals together.
In November of 2004, the band decided to try and improve the vocals. Eric and Paul asked their good friend Chris Bush to become the lead singer, allowing Anthony to perform back-ups, as well as play rhythm guitar. Around the beginning of Chris's time with the band, the name was changed to Ornikus. After having some issues with the some members of the band, Anthony decided it was best that he left. At this time, the band decided one guitarist was all they needed. Soon after the writing of some new material and a few shows, the band decided that Chris wasn't quite the lead singer they were looking for.
In Spring of 2005, Chris quit the band. After learning about the enthusiasm of Matt Dennis, an old middle school comrad, to join a band as the vocalist, Eric and Kurt asked him to come to a practice. After practicing with Ornikus, immediate musical bonds arose between Matt and every member. Soon after realizing these bonds, it was an easy decision to name Matt the new vocalist of Ornikus. During the summer, the band through went through a serious style change, progressing from a slow nu-metal genre into a fast paced metalcore style. The band had earlier decided to keep Kurt as the only guitarist of the band, but as the music of the band shifted, they realized they were missing something. After discussing and debating, over and over again, the band decided they needed a second guitarist. Kurt's somewhat distant cousin and long time friend, Jeremy Pyburn, liked Ornikus's sound and learned all of their material.
In the Fall and Winter of 2005, Jeremy attended several practices, and despite distance and transportation issues, the band decided to make Jeremy an official memeber. .
Unfortunately, due to the extreme distance issues, the great friend and band mate, Jeremy Pyburn, had to leave the band. He did a so much for the band, and we thank him a ton for that. However, Paul and Eric soon discovered John Quezada, a senior at the prep. His style and talent fit so well with the band that he was almost instantly asked to join. John brings a new, undiscovered side to Ornikus music that fans have never seen and our style shall continue to grow with the new addition.
After many changes and many members, this north shore band has finally found its niche in today's rock scene. Ornikus has finally released it's debut album titled "Ornikus". The members will all be going off to college soon, but plan on staying together and continuing to play shows on breaks. Thanks to you, our fans, Ornikus has been able to enjoy an amazing 4 years playing shows, writing music and finally, finishing an album. Thank you for all your support as we continue to grow as a band and as individuals.
