About Me

I am blessed to be surrounded by great family and caring friends, a job with crap pay but great benefits, and a body that is both healthy and useful. I have recently acquired a MS degree in pysical education from Adelphi University. I have attained degrees in special/elementary education and music. Training Shorin Ryu karate and Brazilian jiu jitsu occupy most of my time. I'm a black belt instructor at Serra Brazilian jiu jitsu and have been teaching karate at Okinawa Budokan since 1991. More than anything else, I have a passion for teaching (I'm a middle school special educator). To see the look on a person's face when they accomplish something they never thought possible, is the most incredible reward. I tend not to do things half-assed, I like doing it full-on or not at all (if something is worth doing, it is worth doing well). My Interests

I like to mountain bike, watch movies, and play video games (PSP rocks!) Karate and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu are my two passions, they take up most of my time. I need music like other people need air...I'm looking into implanting an ipod under my skin so I can always have some tunes with me.

I'd like to meet:

I would love to meet Mila Jovovich, she is the ultimate hottie-pants! I'd also like to meet Mark Wahlberg, Vincent D'Onofrio, Brian Cox, Jackie Chan, Nikola Tesla, Steve Vai (bow down)and Joe Satriani.

Music:

Depends...I love heavy stuff...Hed (pe), Chimaira, Clutch, Type O Negative, Deftones, ill niño, Killswitch, Down, Tool, SOiL, Mushroomhead, Sevendust, Slipknot, Fear Factory, Rage, Spineshank, Lost Prophets, PM5K, Zombie, Electric Frankenstein, The Cult, Zep (my all time favorite), Quicksand, Foo Fighters, Static X, VOD, Pantera, Linkin Park... I also love Jamiroquai, Seal, Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Soul Coughing, Cake, Gypsy Kings. I'm also into Old Skool Rap. Music should make your ass shake. Hair bands rock!...Cinderella, Dream Theatre, Tesla, Crüe, Snakepit, L.A. Gunns, Mr. Big, VH, Queensryche, Ratt. Whatever happened to guitar solos? Slash rocks!!!!

Movies:

Anything with karate, explosions, and/or nudity. I like to laugh, and I hate sad movies, if I wanted to cry, I'd go home! Orgazmo, Big Trouble in Little China, Shooter, Drunken Master II, Fist of Legend, Minority Report, Event Horizon, The Shocker (No More Mr. Nice Guy!),Clerks (no karate/nudity), Indiana, Star Wars (the old ones), The Matrix (awesome karate), XXX, The Bourne Identity/Supremacy/ultimatum, The Fifth Element (Mila!), Resident Evil (more Mila), The Cell, Dawn of the Dead (the new one), From Dusk 'Till Dawn, Major Payne, The Last Samurai, Time Cop, Cliff Hanger, Remo Williams,Spies Like Us, Out for Justice, The Princess Bride, MIB I&II, and any of the X Men movies. I'm no too into T.V.,I'm more of a movie guy, but I love Family Guy and Da Ali G Show. What ever happened to Renegade, Quantum Leap, MacGyver and Alien Nation?...It's all reality T.V. garbage. F American Idol and Survivor. Penn & Teller's Bullshit is awesome for de-bunking all sorts of old myths. Lorenzo Lamas is my idol.

Books:

I enjoy reading non fiction and fitness books, but, Anne Rice's "Vampire Chronicles" are my favorites.Jon Krakauer and Rick Ridgeway are two of my favorite authors. "It's not about the bike" by Lance Armstrong is amazing. I devoured Susan Casey's book about great white sharks near the Farallon Islands in a frenzy! "The Devil's Teeth" is a must read for any fan of great whites. Pauls Piers Read's 'Ablaze:The Story of the Heroes and Victims of Chernobyl' is a frightening true account of the Chernobyl disaster. 'Alive',another Paul P. Read book,is a fantastic story about the survivors of a terrible plane crash in the Andes. I have a bunch of books lined up for this year that I'm really looking forward to reading.

Heroes:

Steve Vai is a god to me. Lance Armstrong, Randy Coture, Bethany Hamilton, Aron Ralston, Pat Tillman, Göran Kropp, Beck Weathers. These guys/gal are truly remarkable human beings. My mom is the single most influential person in my life, she's breaks her ass 7 days a week and doesn't get the credit she truly deserves! I look up to people that have the strength to rise above. Rise above hate, prejudice, ignorance, and anything or one that stands in your way!
