It seems some folks are confused when they come across one of my pictures, out of context, and think it is a shot of a motorcycle crash! It sincerely happens~ I suppose I understand. Seems even more confusing to some why I put in countless hours behind the camera, behind the computer, and behind the wheel of my car to make these pictures.
I hope, with my images, to help encourage people outside the sport to become active viewers, supporters, and participants in stunt community as well as inspiring the next generation of Stunters. Each image attempting to convey what the sport is:
Freestyle: A performance or routine featuring relatively free, unrestricted movement or intended to demonstrate an individual's special skills or style, as in figure skating, gymnastics, or surfing.
Streetbike: Streetbikes are a type of motorcycle that fall under the street classification and generally emphasize performance over practicality.
Stunting: A performance displaying a person's skill or dexterity, as in athletics; a feat: any remarkable feat performed chiefly to attract attention.
These are NOT the guys you see on the freeway stopping traffic! Usually... ummm allegedly...
Be clear - Stunters are well skilled athletes, mechanics, and businessmen. A real Stunter is putting in hours of practice in a parking lot perfecting his (and sometime her) tricks on a 400 lb. motorcycle, maintaining said motorcycle - which takes a thorough beating on a daily basis, and selling DVDs, T-Shirts, and Stickers to support the effort. Most are still rocking full-time jobs!
For what, you say? BIG CHECKS! Big HAPPY GILMORE Checks! No - Did I say checks? I meant CHICKS. Smoking~ Hot~ Chicks~! (And sometimes dudes I suppose).
I'd like to think it's because they love 'it' - 'it' being different for different people really. Could be the feeling of being on the bike for some - showing off for people - pulling off a gangster new trick for the first time - or just kicking it with the best people you know.
I know I love what they do and I've made friends for life.
And I know what my 'it' is - 'it' is the feeling of being behind the camera - showing off for people - getting gangster new shots of gangster new tricks - and kicking it with the best people I know.
Thanks to each and all of the people around me for keeping me gassed up in their own way.
Holler Back~!
