Born in 1989, Manuel Mayr took classical piano lessons at the age of 7 and made his first musical experiences with interpreting existing pieces. With 12 years he started to play the electric guitar, which offered him a totally new approach to music in general, and especially to the various styles in Jazz. Very soon, after having the first lessons in Jazz-theories, he began to compose his own pieces, and also made his first experiences in arranging his own as well as existing songs for certain instrumentations. At the age of 15 he started to play classical double bass in order to gain experience in playing with an orchestra and classical music in general. With the technical know-how from the double bass and theoretical know-how from the Jazz guitar he found himself very familiar with the fret less electric bass, which is definitely the most satisfying activity for him at the moment.
