Ray RamÃrez was born in Manhattan, New York. RamÃrez has gained the reputation as one of the salsa's foremost bass player and luthier. He moved to Humacao, Puerto Rico at the age of 4, where he start his school studies. At age 15 he started his musical studies. His bass teachers included: German Peña Plaza, Carlos Hernandez, Manuel Verdeguer, Freddie Silva, Jerry Crespo, Hector Tirado, Orlando Cardenas and Luis Malkovith. While studying Ray started playing Bass with his father's orchestra: Dave RamÃrez & his Latin Fire. Later he started playing with the Humacao Municipal Band (BMH), FOSJA - Symphonic Orchestra.Ray has performed and recorded with some of the greatest artists in the world of Latin, Jazz and Classical music.
