To keep it simple, five guys from the bay area got together in early 2003 to make music. Bridging off of their past musical experiences, Chris Baldomero, Anthony Bartlett, Noah Ramos, Anthony Ancheta, and Jimmy Nettavong, took what they have learned to create not just another group that could sing and perform, but a group that could entertain. With their stylish and unique harmonies, innovative and precise choreography, and their own individual down to earth personalities, these guys plan to take the industry by storm.“DEFI has been a project in the making during our own individual lives, even before we even met each other as a group. We took what we learned from the past and used that as our foundation to build off something out of the ordinary. We keep that mentality and apply that to our passion of entertainment. It’s like trying to make a masterpiece off of sheet rock or something…”With such musical influences from both old school acapella and doo wop to new age soul, pop, and R&B, the major distinction between DEFI and other musical predecessors is definitely their ability to change styles. As a group, DEFI takes aspects from other member’s specialties in music in order to establish a crazy sound not yet breached by other groups in the industry.“It’s especially hard now-a-days when people classify you as a BOYZ II MEN or NSYNC while your trying to come out with something new. Not saying that’s bad and all, but we would like to make something unique and special that those groups, no matter how popular they are, has never done in their music. It’s somewhat hard but if we put our hearts into it, we know it’s possible.”With collaborations including many experienced local producers, choreographers, and managers, DEFI’s theory is to come up slowly and surely, making sure that they are ready for the next step 120%. Their attitudes, dedication, hopes, faith and encouragements from their fans has turned this once pastime hobby individually into a professional career they all hope would to do for the rest of their lives.
