The New Old Fashioned Way

About Me

Yes, I'm often "About Me", if you know where to look. In fact I can't help always being "About Me" even if sometimes I'd prefer not to be.

My Interests

British and American Pop Culture. You know music, movies, Television, Books and that. Here we go:

I'd like to meet:

Definitely Sting. Not really.

Music:

Off the top of my head and what what I'm listening to most, as of right now: All good Christmas records (all year round), David Bowie, The Roxy Music (not Roxy Music!), Scott Walker, The Dandy Warhols, Biff Rose, Pet Sounds (the album), Belle and Sebastian, Pulp, any proper poppy pop music, a bunch of the sixties revivalist bands, interested in the post 1970 good British Folk music stuff, all good novelty records, Bernard Cribbins, and as a rule pretty much anyone British, singing in their own accents. Other stuff I've forgotten.

Movies:

Where to begin, again as of right now: Pretty much any British movie made prior to 1980, with an emphasis on Genre movies. My constant top six are Planet of the Apes, Star Wars, Back to the Future, Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978), It's a Wonderful Life and Desperado. This here's another longer list I made a couple of years ago (oh yeah and I like making lists) which still pretty much holds up. You can also now add The Incredibles to that list too. Targets, Don't Look Now, Lolita, 12 Monkeys, Time Bandits, The IPCRESS File, A Matter of Life and Death, Mulholland Dr., Elephant Man, Taxi Driver, King of Comedy, Funny Bones, The Lavender Hill Mob, The Lady Killers, Bedazzled (Pete and Dud one obviously) The Wicker Man, Ed Wood, Tranformers: The Movie, Profondo rosso (Deep Red), Time Masters (Les Maîtres du temps), The Rocketeer, Pinocchio, Abre los ojos (Open Your Eyes)

Television:

All TV. See my TV Blog here: http://www.abitnice.com/mytwodads/

Books:

I read embarassingly few books and when I do they tend to be non-fiction. Biographies and Autobiographies mainly of people I like, or film books. Other than than I read comic books (if they count).

Heroes:

Currently Deep Roy (http://www.abitnice.com/deeproy/), Jonathan Ross, Peter Cushing, Mike Allred, Bob Monkhouse, and Vic and Bob. And today (3/10/2005) and perhaps only today Clement Freud.
