I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

First of all, I love life!! I've lived in California for six years, and I now also have a place in Farmington, Connecticut, where I will be spending three of four weeks every month. I am going to be bi-coastal for a while, but I hope to eventually have a home base on the East side.I'm pretty well traveled (evidently this word can be spelt with one or two l's. English is a strange language), and in the last few years have been lucky enough to go all over the good ol' USA (Cali rocks!), Taiwan, Egypt, India, Thailand, Singapore, Japan etc. I've been traveling with my parents since I was a little kid, but it's done nothing to cure my wanderlust. I eventually hope to combine travel with some adventure sports like climbing, diving, and/or snow-boarding. I climbed Mount Sinai last year, it was an awesome experience to visit a place holy to three major religions, even though I am not terribly devout. I also hope to compete in the Paris to Dakkar rally some day!I'm a well-read, well-educated kinda guy, but not a sophisticate who intentionally pores over incredibly complex tomes in the hope of appearing coffee-shop chic. I am not a good chess player, and I do not play bridge, so that is not how I unwind.I love my cars: a blood-red '99 Mustang convertible with some nice subs for the gangsta rap. I also have a Ford Explorer, and both cars are great for weekend trips (the 'Stang for rides down California Highway 1 with the top down and the Exploder for Yosemite or Lake Tahoe).I love food, both cheap and dirty, and expensive and upscale. I am a good cook, and I need to do it more often, because there are times where I eat 3 meals a day out for months on end. Most people tell me I talk pretty softly (I think this is untrue), and that I am a quiet guy (wait till you know me better, and ask some of my college/school buddies). I'm not a big party animal any more, but I definitely do not look down upon people who know how to have a good time, and I relish their company. I am extremely liberal and tolerant socially.I treat my friends extremely well, and I do splurge on a few things that make my life easier (like having a maid service), but I am not big on status. Status, as defined by one of my mentors and close friends: when you buy the things you don't really need, with the money you don't really have to impress the people you don't really like.I work for a small technology company called Crazy Magic Inc aka CMI. We work on some extremely cool stuff and our team is comprised of the best darn engineers you could ever hope to meet and work with. True Wizards. My "I" counter has now exceeded its maximum limit, so please drop me a line if you would like to know more.

My Interests

Finance, Investing, Economics, Technology, Adventure Travel, Health, Nutrition, Music, Cooking, Movies, Reading, Massage

I'd like to meet:

Pretty much any one. I like to learn and share with people from every walk of life. We will get along especially well if you enjoy food, music, movies, reading, travel and laughing.I also enjoy meeting other technology lovers, and am always on the lookout for some good people to hire.If you are also interested in current affairs, investing, and mentoring, we will have a few more topics to talk about, but if you aren't interested in those, that's good too, we can just be totally random!

Music:

Anything which takes skill to write, sing or play. It could be brooding or uptempo, rap, RnB, pop, rock, classical, world, reggae or whatever, I have fairly eclectic tastes. I am also willing to tolerate music with just a good beat or that sounds "cool" to play in the car. Also willing to tolerate fast-paced, melodic techno even if accompanied by pithy lyrics. My favorite band is unequivocally U2, because they have made some of my favorite songs, been time tested, have stuck together, don't make too many songs about love, love and love, are socially conscious and responsible, and are not afraid of speaking their mind. Britney Spears, you rule! You should be the Queen of the Planet, just not this one. I propose that when aliens finally land on Earth and say "Kra kuk la kuk ma kuk" (translation: take me to your leader), we bring them to Mrs. Federline so that they either vaporize her or deify her.

Movies:

Braveheart, The Usual Suspects, The Shawshank Redemption, Riding Giants, Hotel Rwanda, Beyond Borders, Serendipity, The Constant Gardener, Jackie Chan movies, dodgy Kung Fu movies, ALL James Bond movies (I watch all of 'em every year, some station or the other has the 008 Days of 007 on!), Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, all Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, Rob Lowe (j/k! Checking if you are still awake!), Star Wars (Master Yoda, wise you are). Basically anything that makes me laugh, even if its a stoner or gross out movie, and anything that makes me think, and is well writen, well-acted and well-directed. Oh ya, I love a few Hindi movies too, especially one's with Amitabh Bacchan.

Television:

24, The Amazing Race, 106 'n' Park, VH1 Top 20 Countdown, Travel Channel, Home and Garden shows (LOL! I always fantasize about adding rooms to my house), occasionally OC, Smallville and Freddie. I don't usually watch TV, just keep a music channel or the travel channel on in the background while I work.

Books:

The Joys of Not Working; The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari; Execution; Keeping The Love You Find; Even Elephants Can Dance; Straight From The Gut; Body for Life; Rich Dad Poor Dad; Fantastic Voyage; Survival Of The Thinnest; Acts of Faith; The Value Factor; The Scientific Conquest Of Death; The Saint, the Surfer, and the CEO; The 10% Solution for a Healthy Life; On Intelligence; Infiniband Architecture; How to Retire Happy, Wild, and Free; Guns, Germs and Steel; Brilliant Madness

Heroes:

The Buddha, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, several others, but I wouldn't want you to know.
