Joswun grew a love for all aspects of hip hop sometime in the early 80's while in single digits trying to be down with the older dudes around his Astoria, Queens, New York neighborhood. A simple love became an obsession as the golden 80's were coming to a close, around the time when Joswun was a Dj, Grafitti artist, and a developing emcee all at the same time. Between the Marley Marl and Red Alert rap shows, Krs, Rakim, Kane, and a neighborhood clique called The Force Crew a dream and a hunger to shine was born.
As the 90's began Joswun moved from Queens to the Bronx where the ambition to be a rhyme writer was perfected into a skill through constant cafeteria battles in Stevenson H.S. and freestyle ciphers all over New York. After a humiliating loss in an overcrowded freestyle battle in the Bx, it was clear that 95% wasn't enough in the game of lyrical wits, since that day 150% has been the set standard.
While no longer a battle emcee or a freestyle king Joswun still stands by the 150% standard, just in a wider, more diversified version of it. After a long hiatus from the music scene Joswun decided to take a stab at it once again after being inspired by long time friends, a short list of emcees, producers, and his own desire for challenge.
