GERRY JOE WEISE was born in 1959 in Sydney, Australia, he learned to play guitar at the age of 4. During the 1970s when he was 16 and 17 he supported bands AC/DC, Rose Tattoo, The Angels and Midnight Oil with rock bands The Class and Siren in Sydney. At 18 he joined the progressive Corroboree that had drummer Craig Collinge (ex Manfred Mann) and pianist Cezary Skubiszewski (ex Alexis Korner, film composer "Two Hands"). In 1980 Gerry Joe Weise took a big step forward and moved to Europe, living in France, Germany and Switzerland until 1999 before moving back to Australia. He has toured Australia, Europe, USA, Hawaii, Tahiti, Fiji, Polynesia, the Azores Isles and Scandinavia. He has released the albums : 1994 "Live In Paris", 1996 "A Letter To Jimi", 1999 "Bushman Boogie", 2005 "Sydney-Paris Blues", 2009 "Blues Down Under" (Alien Records). Compilation : 2009 "Jaguar" ("Long Train Blues" by Gerry Joe Weise) with 7 other artists (Leaping Cat Records). In 2000 he wrote two songs for Nabarlek (Indigenous Live Band Of The Year Award 2005) for their 2nd album "Bininj Manborlh".

Throughout his many tours he has jammed with B.B.King, John Lee Hooker, Albert Collins, Noel Redding & Eric Clapton. His trios have had musicians from Mick Taylor, Roy Buchanan, Savoy Brown, Tower Of Power, Ravi Shankar, Big Ed Sullivan and Otis Grand. Gerry Joe Weise has guest supported Ray Charles, Buddy Guy, B.B.King, The Scorpions, Eric Clapton, The Yardbirds, John Lee Hooker, Pat Metheny, John McLaughlin, Iggy Pop & The Stooges, Noel Redding, Canned Heat, Albert Collins, Luther Allison, Bob Brozman, Dave Hole, Van Wilks, Deborah Coleman, Joe Louis Walker, Jerry McCain, Luther 'Houserocker' Johnson, Matt 'Guitar' Murphy, Otis Grand, Mark Hummel, Maurice McKinnies, Billy Branch, Nine Below Zero, Eddie & The Hot Rods, the Jimi Hendrix 30th Commemoration Festival, headline Santa Maria Blues Festival the Azores Isles Atlantic Ocean, the Chicago Blues Festival tour & the San Francisco Blues Festival tour in Europe.

Sounds Like: GERRY JOE WEISE lays down the Blues on acoustic guitars, resophonic guitars and vintage electric guitars. He plays a lot of slide guitar, overhand, lap-style and normal, either with one or two slides on his left hand.

Blues and Roots music From Down Under Australia. A fiery style of Blues, GERRY JOE WEISE is able to express himself in folk rock, country and jazz, switching between different types of guitars and playing important festivals and concerts in many different countries. On the acoustic, he has experimented with aboriginal music, indian sitar music and free jazz.

GERRY JOE WEISE performs blues rock guitar mixed with chicken pickin' country music. In concert he treats the acoustic guitar much like an electric guitar, using effects and stage antics. Gerry Joe Weise is able to captivate very large audiences while performing solo, the best example was the success he had while playing just before The Scorpions in front of 7,000 people.
